Saturday Supper Time?
Comments (8)I've eaten the same thing on Saturday night since I was a kid, baked beans and hot dogs. Though tonight I'm having a small steak grilled on the gas grill. Oh, and brown bread. DH doesn't like baked beans so he's having a burger and salad....See MoreSupper Time on Saturday!
Comments (17)Marilyn, did you make your own cherry pie? It's been a long time since I've made one and I love cherry pie. I found some jars of dark german cherries at Traders Joe's a couple of weeks ago and bought those since I had none here, thought they might make a nice pie. But haven't made it yet - I may drain some of the juice, will have to guess on the sugar. We went to an afternoon birthday party for our great nephew, one year old. I'm very proud of our niece in law, she did a wonderful job executing that party and for more guests than I was expecting to see. Pulled pork sliders, meatballs, salads, fruit. Brownies, cookies, cupcakes. A cake for baby that he wanted no part of! Probably typically, he wasn't too interested in the mountain of presents either but greatly enjoyed the wrapping and tissue paper ;) He mastered very confident walking just yesterday, his actual birthday....a cutie. If we have any more to eat tonight, it may be a cold ham sandwich from a ham I baked Thursday, but we both had plenty to eat about 3:30 PM....See MoreSupper Time on Saturday
Comments (19)We normally have a quesadilla on Saturday night and popcorn later, but instead we attended our annual high school Alumni Banquet (just over 200 in attendance). It always includes what I call "old people food" and was catered by a local food market. There were 2 attendees from the 1936 80-year class. Our former principle attended- 97-years old, and science teacher - 88 (both live easy walking distance from the school). Menu: Chicken Fried Steak, Meat Loaf, Smoked Pork Mashed Potatoes, Hash Brown Casserole, Rice Pilaf Green Beans, Corn Fruit Salad, 7-Layer Salad Rolls & Butter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We wait for Colorado peaches in the summer, which are sold in a hotel parking lot once a week during peach season. Otherwise I use frozen and freeze-dried peaches, and an occasional can of spiced sliced peaches....See MoreSupper Time on Monday!
Comments (21)My favorite salad Lisa ;0) Dawn, your shrimp look great. Everything sounds so good, I'd love to be at any of the above tables. We had a big breakfast today, restaurant, family, combination celebrating our young (17) guest here from overseas and a SILs birthday. We normally don't eat breakfast, it happened to be the time of day everyone was free not busy. I have oysters here a friend dropped off last night. Not yearlings like we like best but they'll be good. Haven't cooked them yet, I'm still working outside and just came in the check emails....See MoreDawnInCal
