So far, peach daiquiris. :) Fresh peaches have hit the farm stand, I think they're from SC. I found a markdown steak for DH, I don't eat meat. Not sure what else, I might make some coleslaw, there are some pickled beets in the fridge that could be pressed into service. Apparently, today is CORN (clean out refrigerator night).

Had my big meal in the middle of the day because my son and grand baby came over. We had some brisket I had smoked, tortillas, black beans, and an avocado salad with the first ever pickles I made a few days ago, and he had a piece of store bought cake.

Marilyn, that sounds so good, I'd like to come for dinner. I don't particularly want to cook it myself, it's very warm here for us today, we aren't typically HOT on the Washington coast. I've gotten a little uncomfortable outside pruning a couple of times and I still have more to do....

DH said he was fine with a cold dinner. It was a pretty easy answer to extract from him when he came in all sticky and overheated from mowing and edging. It's going to be shrimp salads, rolls.

What a great line up of good meals listed. Makes me drool. I had pulled chicken, potato/gravy, green beans, and a banana for dessert. It's really looking like rain here in my part of Ohio. It can wash off all the pollen that's on my car. ☻

I grilled chicken kabobs - chicken, mushrooms, red pepper, red onion & pineapple. Brushed them with BBQ sauce.

marinated chicken breasts in lemon and thyme all day and the grill is fired up now.

Grilled prime rib. We just ate banana nut bread fresh out of the oven.....not that hungry. Going night shooting, it's a moonless night....we'll snack.

Fresh peaches, here too. They might be my favorite fruit.

I've harvested some zucchini and yellow crookneck and think I'll make some patties with them, turkey meatballs and a creamy mushroom sauce.

A side salad with all garden greens and a chopped peach would be yummy with a fresh lemon vinaigrette.

I went out for dinner last night so had a steak sandwich using leftovers. Had some carrots and ranch dip and strawberries for dessert.

rhizo, what are you doing with the squash patties? I have some zukes on the counter that need to be used, and I'm always open to new stuff.

Only a couple of times in my life have I tasted a fresh peach that was sold near the area where it was grown. Oh my goodness, how amazing! While in the area, I ordered a fruit salad at a restaurant and was served the most delicious fresh fruit and homemade muffins. It was wonderful. Tonight I made a sauce with fresh tomatoes and garlic and served it over thin pasta. Topped it with feta cheese. Will go out for ice cream parfaits for dessert.

aok, I julienne the squash, add finely chopped onion, chopped parsley, couple of beaten eggs, a bit of chopped jalapenos, tsp. of corn meal, pinch S&P, etc. I don't use flour but many people do....like a fritter. Mine will be fried in ghee until crispy around the edges. They are soupy when ladled into the hot fat, but the eggs hold it together.

I love the patties, but also spiralize summer squash to saute in butter or ghee or steam until barely soft.

DD and I went to an estate sale and a Lions garage sale today, and had brunch out, which for me was a lovely vegetable omelet,but I could eat only half of it, so guess what I'm having this evening! Think I'll wash it down with a margarita!

I made a roast last night with mashed potatoes and gravy. Leftover roast was reintroduced as french dip sandwiches with sauteed mushrooms and provolone cheese.

About peaches. What has happened to FREESTONE peaches? I haven't seen them available here in ages. The Clings just aren't as tasty and take a long time to soften up and be even a little bit sweet.

We normally have a quesadilla on Saturday night and popcorn later, but instead we attended our annual high school Alumni Banquet (just over 200 in attendance). It always includes what I call "old people food" and was catered by a local food market. There were 2 attendees from the 1936 80-year class. Our former principle attended- 97-years old, and science teacher - 88 (both live easy walking distance from the school).

We wait for Colorado peaches in the summer, which are sold in a hotel parking lot once a week during peach season. Otherwise I use frozen and freeze-dried peaches, and an occasional can of spiced sliced peaches.

I feel sorrow for people who don't live near peach trees. Right now we have GA or SC peaches, but NC peaches will be in soon. *drooool* Local peaches and local blueberries. Too bad the local strawberries are done.

Sue, I know in my area (DMV) they are only in season for a few weeks. I love Freestone! You can buy canned Freestones. I know it is not the same but they are good in a crumble/tart.
