I have one that I absolutely love but I don't know if it will work with the rest of your furniture. It's actually a console table, very narrow with a flip-top lid. I wanted something for a narrow-ish spot beside the bed and this worked perfectly. I mounted a mirror above it so I can do my makeup right there, with my bathroom just a few steps away for water if I need it (I really dislike doing my makeup in the bathroom). I filled the interior of the lid with makeup organizers and have all of my stuff stashed away - I love being able to close the lid and not have to look at a makeup mess!

It looks like my particular table is currently out of stock on Joss and Main but I know other sites, like Wayfair, carried the same table under a different name. It was under $300 when I bought it.

@erinsean I use water (but not that much) and my sink is just across the room. The space and lighting in the bathroom itself is not suited for doing makeup. Glass/wood would be nice but I can't find any that are right. The closest I came was a computer desk at Costco but it had a keyboard tray instead of drawers...

@biondanonima I've been looking at console tables! Unfortunately, the one you bought seems to have gone up a lot in price.

Dressing tables are as scarce as unicorns these days, but I've always had one and always will. When we were in Maine part of the year, I desperately needed one, and of course, was not moving my one from KY back and forth.

So I made one...sort of. I bought two white melamine bookcases (30" tall or so), each had two shelves in them. Then I bought a piece of white melamine to go on top, leaving a nice opening in the middle for my legs. I took a Ralph Lauren gingham sheet and draped it over the contraption, and then used upholstery pins to pleat the corners so it was sort of like gift wrapping a box. I then sewed these in place by hand. When I needed something from one of the shelves, I just pulled up the cloth on that side. I had my hairdryer/curing iron/hot rollers on one side (back is always cardboard so it's easy to cut a hole for a power strip and have it inside this to plug in all this stuff). I kept my makeup in a small basket - easy to pull out. I had a silver brush/comb/mirror set that was on top. I found a large silver picture frame and had a mirror put in it and had that on top. I also had a pair of small dressing table lamps. I had a piece of window glass cut to cover the top - be sure to have them sand the edges if you do this - otherwise LOTS of blood will happen!

This worked admirably for 10 years. I have no idea what I did with it - think I gave it to a local charity store. It was cheap and it worked and it looked really quite nice in the bedroom.

I personally would not put a make up table in a master bedroom and especially so close to the bed. I would only use one of those if the space were big enough to allow for it to be in a more designated area for that activity like a sitting room or a large walk in glam closet or as part of the master bath suite. If you have to have it, then I would get a mirrored one to combat against all of that dark wood and to keep up the feel of glam which is what you want in a master bedroom.

@Anglophilia I considered making one as a very last resort. I would get a marble slab cut and probably buy legs from one of those "table-in-a-kit" sets.

@cpaul1 I don't have the space in the closet or master bath for a vanity. I also prefer not to keep my makeup in such a humid environment. Maybe one day I will have space to do my makeup in my own sitting room! I like the look of a mirror table but... what about smudgy fingerprints??
