console table vs dresser for master bedroom?

what are the thoughts on a console table for a master bedroom instead of using a full dresser? reason i ask is, i am going to have my closets done with drawers and plenty of cabinet space, so my thinking was that a dresser would just be for looks, and not really used. on the flip side, if i used a contemporary/modern type of console table, and mount the tv on the wall, it will keep a clean look. i just havent seen any pictures of something like this and was not sure how it would look (i.e.: too empty in the room, too simple, etc).

thoughts?

By all means don't get a dresser if you have no need for it. I've noticed a trend with newer housing to have a large closet that is fitted out with shelves and drawers and such so that it will hold all the clothes. If you've got a closet like that a) you have the closet of my dreams and b) you don't need a dresser.

So look into a console table or TV stand that will fit your decor and make you happy. If, once it is in place, you feel the room is too empty, you can add a comfy chair or a large plant or just about anything else you want.

I don't have a traditional dresser in my bedroom and prefer to keep things folded on shelves or in drawers in my closet. By all means, do what works for you!

This last iteration is very William Haines, c. 1950s, or Edward Wormley. On the one hand there is something very functionalist and good about it, but on the other it may be a kind of planned obsolescence, just like some of their super functional bedroom pieces. Their pieces became outmoded because people no longer had large telephones next to their beds, TV sizes changed, and large consoles weren't needed to control TV, Stereo, lighting, drapes and intercom the way that they were a la Rock Hudson in Pillow Talk. So what happens if part of this construct stops working for you? Then the whole connected piece might become outmoded. I think that it might be best to keep the pieces separate rather than having one specialized piece. If you think you need the vanity space as an actual make up vanity, I would probably include a sink but I would do something tiny like the Barbara Barry Sink for Her (and $$$700), just good enough for dampening makeup sponges,etc. and a bit of rinsing and hand washing. As far as seating, you need enough room to sit comfortably for a short period of time maybe even a bit off kilter, but not enough to lounge, so you may be able to skimp a little. I would do Low table height though, of 28-30 inches.

So I did a thing... I found a matching set of Kincaid Furniture nightstands for $50. The only thing wrong with them is they both have a little bit of paint peeled off on top, which is easy enough to fix. Otherwise they are perfect. It was a deal I couldn't pass up since Kincaid nightstands easily go for several hundred dollars a piece and these were the size I wanted. Sooo I guess we are going with black. lol. Here is a picture of one of the dressers. They will work for now, but we will likely keep an eye out for new ones. Husband is liking the black furniture. But we are going to have to work on brightening up the space if we do get black dressers too.

Hi! Hopefully we got plan of your room right! If space is the issue, maybe you could consider placing the dresser beside your bed. It will create some form of imbalance when viewing at elevation but that could easily be remedied through proper styling of accessories & decor. :) You could even place a media cabinet on the opposite wall or even a small desk and chair beside the cabinet given how much space is left. thanks for the input!! that's what I was thinking. The closets are not huge but they are not small. both will have plenty of space for either my gf or I. I am having one of them fitted with a full length mirror so that she can use it when she gets dressed, etc.

so i went with the idea...see picture...simple, to the point with those two accent chairs..tv will be mounted on the wall above it in order to keep the table clear for some simple decor that my gf will be picking out...no clutter...less is better to me lol

Can I ask you a question? I love the pattern of the two accent chairs, but can you really see yourself actually sitting on them for any reason? Are they near the closets, so maybe they'd be useful for when you're tying your shoes in the morning? They seem too small for even laying out the next day's outfits.

ah they are bigger than they look in pictures...honestly, its there more so for looks than anything...just to fill a little space...im trying to avoid having a dresser in the room...just trying a different look, thats all...
