oh, ok. perfect. if there is room there, it would work. you'll have plenty of room for a rug, and a nice bench at the foot of the bed. maybe a few chairs, potted plants over by the window. The tall wall is also a perfect spot for some type of accenting this would be cute in the inset area: I'd do something like this. the blacks/whites/charcoal/leather tones, walnut, would all look nice w/the flooring. love the rug/bench too Inside the large niche, think about doing a built in piece with shelving,, or find a console to span that length. All sorts of ideas for the inset! If you did a built in dresser there, you wouldn't need another piece. tv goes on a swivel mount I'd really make a point of doing somethign special w/the inset spot. you could find a vintage credenza and use that, if there is room on the side, do some cubbies or something like this

My thoughts are if this portion og the house needs help most likely the rest of the house needs help. You could start a new thread posting the floor plans and exterior elevations to get other people's advice; but as always . . . WARNING: Posting your entire floor plan opens you up to facts you may not want to know, but should. Be prepared for suggestions that will make for a better design. Keep a thick skin, open mind, sense of humor, and a glass of wine within arms reach. You may not enjoy it, but everyone else will and you will be better off in the long run if you heed well the advice.

Most restful, secure sleep is attained when the bed is opposite the entry door. You're good!

Bedroom: - I like the idea of moving the bath and closet so they provide a buffer for the master bedroom. - The original plan requires that both spouses walk around the bed to reach the closet and the bath, which is going to get old fast. - Yes, that creates a long hallway ... I'd consider opening the closet door into that hallway. This would mean no light spillage into the room while someone is sleeping. - 6' is not enough vanity to support duplicate sinks ... okay, they'd fit, but they'd take away ALL your at-the-sink drawer space, which means your countertop would always be cluttered with the things that should be in drawers. Other thoughts: - I would turn the closet-by-the-stairs so that it serves Bedroom 4. Then I would turn Bedroom 4's closet so it opens into the main hallway /enlarges that bitty-small linen closet. Seems like that would serve the household better. - Alternately, since someone has marked a small space downstairs as "library", you could make that closet-by-the-stairs into a huge set of bookshelves (located out of the way, but so nicely by a chair) ... and save the downstairs space for a spacious laundry /mudroom. - I'd go with one spacious laundry /mudroom rather than two under-sized spaces.
