Dressing Up the Dressing Area
I admit it - when I was a little girl, I bought into the princess thing hook, line, and sinker. One element of that fantasy that I'm not quite over is the dream of having a fabulously appointed dressing area.
My current makeup-hair-and-jewelry setup includes a rickety table from IKEA and a hand-me-down mirror, tucked into a neglected corner of my bedroom. It's nothing more than a functional afterthought...which means it has lots of potential (if you want to look on the bright side).
So maybe one day, I'll have a real dressing area. Like these:

This is what my princess fantasy looks like: lots of fabric, an upholstered bench, and a giant window for natural light.
How great is this closet? And even better that it includes not just a dressing area, but also a table to lay things out. It might even encourage me to pick out my outfit the night before.
I love this mirrored table. It's necessary, really, if you want to pretend you're an old-fashioned movie star.
This bathroom corner is great in that it's totally functional and it's also got a look that my husband would be able to stomach (I'm not sure he'd love living in my princess fantasy).
This little corner i feminine and glamorous without being nauseating. I love it - and the room as a whole.
Compared to the extravagant closet above, this dressing area is positively restrained. In reality, though, look at all that real estate! It's enough room to really spread out the makeup and jewelry.
This room is less focused on the face and hair prep and more on the dressing itself, but I can't help but love that bench.
