Artificial Grass... A new wave or is it just a phase?

I have just recently completed this landscape project that included installation of artificial grass. The project turned out real good and the homeowners are just overwhelmed with the turn out.

From talking with a few other contractors, it seems like there is a wave of homeowners that are looking to have artificial grass installed instead of real grass. Of course the benefits are wonderful: low maintenance; no more weekly cutting or fertilizing. You will see green grass all year which eliminates the sore eye of seeing warm season grass turn brown and dormant in the fall/ winter...etc... etc.. etc.

The list of benefits can go on and on, but is this a new wave for us landscapers or just a phase of something that will die off quickly?

Is artificial grass branching out from just being used as a backyard putting green and becoming the lawn of choice?

Will HOA's restrict homeowners or allow them to venture off and invest in something like this?

What are your thoughts?
