Lorapetalum in zone 7b

Hello, i live in zone 7b (long island, NY). I was looking into online ordering a purple daydream lorapetalum because i feel as my garden bed needs something standout purple to contrast well with my other shrubs. Not much else to pick from when youre looking for almost year round purple foliage in my zone.

I know lorapetalums are hardy down to Zone 7, since that puts me right on the edge im sure there are risks with this move. I never see them at any garden centers near me so right there kinda makes me feel like they wont do well where i live. I would be planting it about 6 feet from my foundation in an area that gets 6-7 hours of morning/early afternoon sun.

What are the risks with planting a lorapetalum in zone 7b? is it a random spring frost issue that could damage it? Or just a bad winter in general?

Has anyone had any luck growing a lorapetalum in my zone?

thanks
