Speed queen top loader and matching dryer
Comments (61)@beaglenc Your description sounds like it may be a form of tarnish that is appearing because of the water (with detergent and/or fabric softner) is splashing up and hitting it above the water line. I figure it's not getting it below the water line because the friction from the moving clothes, etc. is polishing it off. They do say that the tub gets smoother with use. I'll bet the "ring" will come off with a bit of Bar Keepers Friend....See MoreSpeed Queen Top Loader Load Size
Comments (38)Dosing phosphates correctly can be tricky, I always say if your going to use it you may as well dose correctly if you expect results LOL The easiest way to find out how much is the correct amount for you, because it will differ based on wster hardness and amount of waterr being used..is start your load of laundry, losd the clothes, add the water, but dont add the detergent..add the phosphate first whatever amount you have been using, let it agitate for a minute than feel the water..it should feel slippery, if not add more let agitate and feel again..once it feels slippery remember the amount you used....if the water isn't slippery than enough wasnt added to condition the water which means the benefits of the phosphate arnt there. I would add the same amount to your first rinse as you add to the wash cycle. Since you deal with greasy laundry I recommend a prewash to get rid of some of the muck first. Dont use phosphates in your prewash, but do add a small amount of detergent....See MoreSpeed queen noise level
Comments (6)Yes, it's somewhat loud. My laundry room is between the garage door entrance and kitchen and I have to close the door when I'm doing laundry because of the noise. But understand that the noise does NOT bother me. I love the sound of my clothes actually cleaning/moving/washing. After having a POS LG I will take noise any day with the SQ. But yes, it's somewhat loud....See MoreWWYD? Having a hard time trading my Maytag Neptune for Speed Queen top
Comments (15)Well belts are usually thrown off from misalignment, moisture, tension issues, or pulley failures. It may have been a bearing failed again causing excessive out of round motion, water leaking out on it, cracked pulley on the drum, motor bearings, motor mount bushings. Just too many possibilities without seeing it while it spins with the belt on. You could pull the rear panel off and watch it while spinning and get some ideas. That belt doesnt have a lot of adjustment and there were 2 different belts released for it over the years it was manufactured. I remember one on my 4000 model was so darned tight even adjusted all the way out. Had I known at the time there were two different belts I would have tried a different one. I ended up buying the 7500 and giving the 4000 away though. I rebuilt the 7500 when it hit 10 years of use and have had no issues at all with it before and after the rebuild except some hard water deposits on the first drum. Dont sweat the motor too much. I have a few of them. LOL...See Moresparky823
