Speed Queen top loaders
Comments (7)Marydon---I am very satisfied with my SQueen. Ditto to what Sparky wrote. I think it is quite--the utility room is next to the family room and when running it never bothers us. I pretreat the stains I see---whites I usually add Borax or bleach and soak for about 20 to 30 minutes then wash. I just unloaded a load of colored clothes and found a stray white washcloth was there too---with a stain--proof that stains should be pretreated/bleached. I bought SQ because I think it is a solid built washer and commercial laundries use them. washerman8---I hadn't thought of spinning a 2nd time but I will try that....See MoreSpeed Queen top load washer - which model?
Comments (13)A while back I saw a post about Speed Queen needing to cut the amount of water used in fills to meet government regs. I also read that there is a small lever on the back inside of the control panel that adjusts the fill volume. If I got a Speed Queen (not too soon I hope) I would want to know how to do that. Does anyone recall the instructions? This time I will print them out and save for future reference. I'm with the poster that told of how ridiculous it is for the govt. to limit water for dishwasher and washing machines while allowing unlimited water for lawns and gardens. No home in my neighborhood uses more wash water than irrigation water....See Moremold smell Maytag Neptune
Comments (29)I still love my Maytag Neptune 7500 series with touchscreen. Havent had one problem with these machines yet and I purchased the extended warranty for 5 years from Maytag. The extended warranty just expired without a single problem. I did have a model 4000 purchased in 2001 that got all molded/soap scummed from pure negligent use. We only used cold water and only used liquid detergent and liquid fabric softner. That was a disastrous combination! After fixing that problem and finding out how to actually properly use them I had no more smelly machine. In 2005 Sears sold its last new in box 7500 to me for 630.00, about half price. I used Persil for the first 2 years exclusively in powder and since have used Sears Ultra Plus. Never had to leave the door open, never had to take out the bulb, never have even had a need to do the refresh cycles! We have at least one hot wash per week and whites use liquid bleach. Absolutely no problems. I wanted to switch back to Persil but the price jumped up and Sears was convenient so I stuck with it. You might find more whistles and bells on new model washers (but not many) but this set of Neptunes has been perfect so far, and for all those who snubbed the Neptunes I have seen many of those users later crying about thier new machines too. I dont think you will ever find a top loader to compare to the originals from the golden years so best to stick it out with the more dependable front loaders of today. Unfortunately that is a difficult process to find the best ones and too bad for the many who missed out on the progress Maytag made on the original Neptunes. Too bad they resorted to crappy Korean made substitutes and new top loader technology that crapped out on them too. They should have just stuck it out with the original Neptunes and by now thier reputation would have been at least as good as any others you find out there today IMHO...See Morei just want somebody to fix my speed queen!!!!!!
Comments (22)MizLizzie, do not be frightened! I promise you will not regret it. I got mine from Appliance World in Raleigh. And Randy worked reallyt hard to find someone and he did. If AC says they service what they sell then they will. You will not be sorry. Michael with Southern Pride services was contacted by Speed Queen so no worries. He came on Monday pm and did a great job. I will admit that with the impending snow/ice forcast, I was a little worried that he wouldn't get here in time to fix it but he did. Yes, I was getting frustrated and even thought about getting a maytag but I held out. I asked him about the maytag and his works "they are junk". Said he would trade me for the speed queen. I said nope, I'll stick with the queen. These really are the best you can buy and I can't say enough about them....See MoreEm Eff
