Living Room Decorating Help, Sofa / Sectional advice needed! Pic
Comments (22)I am more than happy to share where this stuff came from and am extremely flattered. The rug is the "Brice" rug from Pottery Barn, 9 X 12. The sectional is made by Jonathan Louis. It is called "Knobhill" and the fabric is called Basil Flannel. I got it at a local furniture store but I saw somewhere that Jonathan Louis furniture might be available at Macy's. The website has a dealer locator: http://jonathanlouis.net/. One armchair is coming this evening. I am going to arrange it all again and post another photo. This is immensely helpful and I am just sorry that I can't try every suggestion! Have a spare small desk in the garage, and will try whatever else I can get my patient DH to do. To make things more complicated, I found out that I can order another piece for the sectional. Since I bought the floor model I didn't think of it before. It will seamlessly extend the longer side another 28". That side will def. have to go against the wall (as in the first photos), but the room will be filled out a little more. Yet another option! I think I have decided against exchanging for a sofa/loveseat. One more question: when moving the sofa away from the wall, how far should it be? Just enough to balance things, or enough for an acutal person to pass through?...See MoreWHAT FABRIC & COLOR SECTIONAL SOFA FOR THIS RENTAL HOME FAMILY ROOM?
Comments (13)Thanks for the great tips. Yes, it's a good point that 16 won't be sitting at the same time...more like 12 or so. Sadly, I have to go fairly dark due to the cleaning and staining issues. I should have added that I plan to add a large 12 x 15 area rug to break up the dark sofas from the darkish wood. I can't go with medium gray because it will look too "matchy-matchy" with the med. gray stone fireplace. Quick question/concern...I searched for sofas that are made from "Sunbrella" people here suggested and there are only a few and they are outdoor sofas. Mostly, the Sunbrella fabric is pillows. Also, I'll be removing both sofa tables behind the sofas that are there now, so that will give me another~ 4+ feet. But I still plan on putting more narrow sofa tables as I don't want the sofas right up against the walls, so it will be more like an extra 2 feet I'll be gaining. Any other suggestions for a "tough" fabric that won't be torn easily? We've had issues with guests sitting on the sofas, etc., with keys, etc, in their back pockets that tear the fabric or snag it. What are opinions on leather? Vinyl? Also, I'd like to lighten up the room with a cleaner, more modern white (ish) paint, maybe with a touch of gray, )but not with any blue or "pink" in it.) The walls are now painted Sherwin-Williams "Accessible Beige" and the Doors (not seen in the pictures are "Dovetail"...which I LOVE, but is way too dark for the walls. I've already gone down the line of the "Dovetail" paint strip and the lighter colors look kinda "pink-ish" in that room.) Thanks again everyone...See MoreModern "L" shape sectional sofa recommendation (dark grey/charcoal)
Comments (13)"Breaking the Bank" is not a term anyone can work with. You should define your budget as a realistic dollar range you are willing to spend. As a retailer, I don't know what your budget is and as such can't make a recommendation since I have sectionals in all price ranges. Also, consider posting photos of your space from two different angles into the room as those show the style and decor of the room, plus window and door positions....See MoreLiving Room Sofa...navy or gray? Sectional or non?
Comments (5)It definitely looks like you are almost there. I agree with you I think a navy blue sofa will look great with your area rug and the two side chairs you have which already have the same tone of blue as in your rug. To bring the room together after work with the accent pillows in the sofa introducing the red and the golds and blues you have in the rug. And keep a sectional!...See MoreVRA Interiors, LLC
