Weed ID, plus how do I get rid of it!

can anyone tell me what type of weeds I have? Also, what would be the best way to get rid of these without killing the grass. Thanks

I'll jump right in and maybe sound rude, but I don't mean to be:
1. WHAT grass?
2) is this your first winter in FL?

HostaHeaven, I'll bet you came from that Land Where Hostas Grow. I've heard of that lovely place. And the cold and snow.

Pic #1 ? If it stays small, leave it. If it is fast spreading with a tap root, pull it before it blanket's the area. You'll know the difference. The obnoxious one usually starts to take over in summer rainy season, so if you haven't seen that one yet, maybe just keep an eye on this. Or, maybe it's setting your yard up to expand next summer. Help! WHAT IS IT?

Pic #2 Dayflower (Commelina diffusa). Green with tiny blue/purple flowers... what's not to like? And you didn't have to plant it!

#1 rule of lawns in FL: If it's green, mow it. That's your lawn.

I've had problems with this weed, so I looked up the name last year. It's from the veronica family, and it spreads mainly by spitting out seeds. It is very easy to hand-pick, and I've eradicated it (knock on wood) for the most part, but still find some now and then. I garden organically, so I don't spray. So, if that's the way you want to go, I'd advise you hand-pick them (the roots come out easily) before they go to seed. You'll probably see them pop up quite often, but eventually you'll win over them. Here is a link that might be useful: Your Weed?

Yeah looks like Triv, which is tougher to remove. Where did you get your seed? Was it a sun shade mix? I read on another forum that Poa Triv is added for shade tolerance in some big box store brands. Tenacity will whiten Poa Triv but not kill easily, I don't think. Is that all you have? If yes dig it up with weed removal tool and get every last bit of root. if you have turf type tall fescue do not use Certainty , you may need Velocity which recently became available for residential use.

If the stems are velvety I think you do have Rhus typhina, Stags Horn Sumac. It is a spreading, suckering, clump forming shrub and will continue to pop up unless you can remove all the roots and the original parent. But it is native to the US so you might just learn to live with it to a certain extent. It has brilliant Autumn colour.

they do not flower nor look like there would be any buds of any type. I am worried to pull as i've heard some of these invasive weed hyper activate/grow when their root is pulled. not sure if that is true or not. Thank you for your response though.

Pull the first one leave the second. The first one looks like the babies of a bur plant...it has pretty flowers but then it has burs...burs that cling and wrap and make more bur plants.
