What is this weed and how do I get rid of it ??

This has taken over my landscape. I'm afraid to spray as its in between and in the middle of most of my plants. Each leaf has its own stem directly into the ground. What is this and how do i get rid of it?

If you can't spray you'll just have to dig/pull. There's no magic solution. Possibly violets but they look a bit off.

they do not flower nor look like there would be any buds of any type. I am worried to pull as i've heard some of these invasive weed hyper activate/grow when their root is pulled. not sure if that is true or not. Thank you for your response though.

I've had problems with this weed, so I looked up the name last year. It's from the veronica family, and it spreads mainly by spitting out seeds. It is very easy to hand-pick, and I've eradicated it (knock on wood) for the most part, but still find some now and then. I garden organically, so I don't spray. So, if that's the way you want to go, I'd advise you hand-pick them (the roots come out easily) before they go to seed. You'll probably see them pop up quite often, but eventually you'll win over them. Here is a link that might be useful: Your Weed?

It's some sort of grass. The exact type doesn't really matter. The Bermuda looks completely dormant in that picture. If so, the easiest way to kill the weeds would be to use glyphosate (brand name roundup). Glyphosate will only work on plants that are green. It's a nonselective weed killer, so it will kill anything green that it ends up on, but if the Bermuda is dormant, it won't take the glyphosate in and kill it.

It might be pokeweed, Phytolacca americana. I can't tell from the photo. Here's a thread on pokeweed with some photos of a large plant: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/namegal/msg0816284825135.html?14 Here are photos of younger plants: http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/weedguide/singlerecord.asp?id=270 If you can't remove all the root (which you must do in order to get rid of pokeweed), you can put a few drops of Round-up concentrate (or generic glyphosate concentrate) on it or pour boiling water in the hole with the root. If it sprouts again from the root, repeat.

Invasive weeds don't grow any faster if you pull them. The warnings refer to their ability to regrow from any pieces left in the ground. So by all means pull, but pull thoroughly. And that means digging rather than just yanking.

If you are afraid to spray but not opposed to herbicides try dipping a small brush in the undiluted herbicide and just spotting a leaf of the undesirable with it. It has worked for me several times, long ago.
