Grocery Prices

We were out for part of the day in the village 20 minutes from us.

There are 2 grocery stores there to choose to grocery shop from, and it appears a good lot of the ppl "shopping" do not fill their carts....only seem to be picking up necessities.

A new to the town drug store opened yesterday(which was why we were there, actually).

There were a few specials with the grand opening.....ie: a dozen eggs-$1.88-regularprice-$2.49.....unfortunately,there weren't any left-typical in this county....but we did get a rain check.

The grocery store prices are unfrigginbelieveable!!

Here are a few that we noticed.

One tomato-$1.17-that was 1/2 price

A box of Kraft Dinner-$1.89!! (not something we eat)

A box of Pot of Gold chocolates-the square one-$10.00!!!!

One dozen,store baked cookies-$8.99

A bag of Black Diamond shredded cheese-340g pkg.- $6.99-on sale!

It isn't any wonder that ppl going in & out are NOT "shopping"...at those prices, who the heck can?

I noticed one senior lady, approx. 70 some yrs of age pushing a cart-everything in her cart was marked down 50% off items,EXCEPT her one quart of milk....poor soul, judging from the way she looked,is on her own.....

And their big promotion at this time of year-----"Shop local-shop at home!"

Won't be happening for me-

What are prices like in your area?
