Thanks for replying so quickly! Yes milling wood from the property sounds like it might be more expensive and worthwhile. I have a lot of sentimental association with the property that I have up north right now but I am interested in winterizing. The insulated concrete form would have to be set pretty deep into the ground I would imagine and that would mean blasting for us on the granite rocks that we have up here. So far this design is one of the best ones that I have seen so far. I imagine that in the future this is something that I would love to invest in. Thanks for your reply again! Alison.

I've come to especially appreciate the way you've built your stove into the corner with all its insulating walls, stainless steel cook top, storage compartments, and fan system. I hope to do something similar with our own wood stove which presently serves as our primary...and sometimes only...source of heat in our much more southerly located woodland cabin. Thanks again for sharing your home...I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!

My husband and I are moving off grid in Washington and in the early phases of planning. I am curious to learn more about the solar system... costs, recommend materials, etc. Any info is appreciated. Thank you!
