Comments (3)the bathroom is small 5 X 5. You wall in the tub is straight ahead of you. To the right is the small vanity and then the toilet..all on one wall. So the hamper was across fom the toilet. Its a challenge in many ways. I have white 4 X 4's on the wall around the entire bathroom. The floor is carrara and ming green dots in a criss cross pattern. Hope this gives you a visual....See MoreTexasWeed, I have a developing disaster on my hands. Please HELP!
Comments (45)I agree with reeljake, your yard looks better than the original picture suggests. You a further promote growth by mowing even lower. You can get a reel mower for $25 of craig's list or a motorized reel mower for ~$200. Leave the clippings on the lawn. It will make a ton of difference as far as growth is concerned. The biggest issue is frequency of mowing. The lower you mow, the more often you have to do. If you can commit to 3-4 mows a week for a month or so, you can fill in a lot of area. Plugging good spot into bad spots will help. Reduce the water to 1" or less per wk (my lawn is doing well on 1/4" every 4+ days in 90-100 degree temps). More water only helps the weeds. Finally, increase feedings - alfalfa, corn (cracked or meal), soy meal, milorganite, etc are your friends. Dump 15-20 lbs per 1000 sq ft every 2 wks (in addition to the synthetic fertilizer) and watch the magic happen. This is my current routine per 1 k(every 2 wks): Milorganite x 1/2 bag Vigoro (35-0-5) @ 2.8 lbs Corn/alfalfa 10 - 15 lbs SBM 10 lbs It may seem rather extreme but my soil is moist, teaming with life and the grass is growing like crazy. I was going to plug some bare areas but I had so much lateral growth before the plugger arrived in the mail that I just skipped that step....See MoreI need help with my lawn. PLEASE HELP!
Comments (4)Agree. How much do you love that sycamore? Does it add value to the house or did it overgrow the lot and become an eyesore? There are three kinds of plant killers. The Weed-b-Gon and Weed-b-Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer target broadleaf plants like clover, dandelions, thistle, and even shrubs and trees. It only works when you spray it on the leaves of the target plants. These herbicides leave grassy plants alone. Another type of plant killer is like Grass-b-Gon. It kills grassy plants in the garden and leaves the broad leaf plants alone. Another type of plant killer is RoundUp. It kills all living plants. There are some plants that need special treatment with one or more of these herbicides. We can't know if you have those without pictures. Adding pictures is pretty simple with the tools in the posting window. Click the Photo button and attach the picture. The hardest part is getting the picture onto your computer from your camera or phone. I use Dropbox. If you want grass in the back yard you could use the WBG as Becky mentioned. Keep in mind that plants drop seeds so repeated applications will be needed if the old seeds germinate and take root. What I would do in the back is mow it down, spray WBG, and hope for the best until next fall. Fall really is the best time to seed cool weather grass. If you take care of a weedy lawn like it was grass, it will at least look decent until you can fix it. That's what I'm doing with my new house. I have the kind of grass that spreads about 10 - 15 feet every year, so I'm patiently nursing that process along. In the mean time I love my weeds for keeping the dirt out of the house. As Becky said you are basically on the wrong track for seeding a new lawn. You don't need to aerate or bring in topsoil. The topsoil you have likely needs work. Any topsoil you bring in will need work, too, so you may as well save yourself the extra time, money, and effort and just fix the soil you have. I suspect it is pretty good, though. As long as you have lots of roots in the ground, that's a big step toward good soil. And a diverse crop of weeds does that quite well....See MorePlease help. Comments (7)Here's a lovely combination believed to be Navajo White walls and White Dove trim. As for the stairs, the look I like is for the newel posts and handrails to match the treads. Since your newel is repeated so many times, you might want to paint it so it vanishes. The risers and stringer should match your trim. Your stained parts match the floor pretty well. Wait until after you paint to decide whether you want to change them or not. IMO, every room can use a touch of black, but wait and see. Personally, I'm a fan of satin finishes and use them most everywhere. Not everyone agrees. Here's a before & after of a project I helped with here at Houzz...See Moresmitrovich
