Northern California Fires: How You Can Help

Wildfires raging in Northern California have killed more than two dozen people and destroyed thousands of houses and commercial buildings. Thousands have evacuated their homes in fire zones centered in the wine regions of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, as well as Solano, Nevada, Butte, Calaveras, Yuba and Shasta counties. Here are some ways to donate or volunteer to help people and animals displaced by the fires.

United Way of the Wine Country. Regional United Way has set up a fund for area fire relief and recovery efforts. Info
Redwood Credit Union. Accepting financial donations to assist fire victims and aid relief efforts supporting Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino or Lake counties. Info
Community Foundation Sonoma County. Launched the Sonoma County Resilience Fund to help the mid-to-long-term needs of the community. Info
Sonoma Humane Society. Donors can give to overall fire relief efforts or request that funds go where they are needed most. Info
Marin Humane Society. In need of funds for animal burn victims to offset the cost of care. Info
Napa Valley Community Foundation. Set up the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by the fires in Napa County. Info
The Community Foundation of Mendocino County. Fund provides disaster relief and recovery services for victims of the Redwood Complex Fire. Info
Latino Community Foundation. Raising funds to support three local Latino nonprofit organizations to help families and farmworker communities immediately and long-term. Info

GoFundMe. Fundraising platform has a page devoted to campaigns raising funds to assist victims of the Northern California fires. It also has its own Direct Impact Fund accepting tax-deductible donations to support individuals with verified GoFundMe campaigns. Info
