I have experienced the half glass on the tubs in a few hotels too. The first one I saw was fixed and it was almost impossible to reach in the tub/ shower and start the water without getting wet. A real hassle. Also when taking a shower, not only does the water get splashed on the floor, but was also cold without full coverage of all glass or a shower curtain. But it looked really cool. On another visit, had seen another one but this one was hinged so you could reach in and turn on the water. This one was longer down the tub than the other hotel had it and was a little over hall way down the full length (where as the first one was almost just 1/3) and it was better in that aspect, but there still was water on the floor when I finished and was still cold due to the air movement in the room. The bottom of the movable panel also did not have a lip on it like a standard shower door has, so it was a real mess. Maybe adding that strip would help, but then there are the other problems. I had been thinking of a future second bath upgrade and liked these looks, but the function is sorely lacking. So will put that on hold till I work out this and other details. I have seen some nicer upscale sliding doors and that might be what I go with.

We're almost finished remodeling our only upstairs bath, with a room size of 7.5 x 8.5' - so not too different from yours. We decided not to do a tub, because the entire family prefers a walk-in shower. Easy to get into, easy to clean, opens up the room. I don't think we'll miss the tub at all, and there's a tub in the basement bath in case anyone breaks a leg or something. Layout is basically a 3 deep by 4 wide shower, then a toilet on the right wall, and a 60" vanity + 24" linen cabinet on the left. The room feels more spacious than I could have imagined. The Kohler cast iron shower pan is lovely. But I have no idea if it would keep in all the water with just a shower curtain. Probably, as long as there are magnets at the bottom of the curtain. There's one bathroom design that I love, which I will link to below. It has a large shower at one of the skinny ends of a rectangular room, with just a panel of glass and an open doorway. Toilet on right, vanity on left as you walk in. This particular room is larger than yours, but it seems like you might be able to do something similar - if you want a really WOW kind of shower. Unless I'm in total irrational love with a house to the point I'm ready to remodel right away etc-I'm going to pass on a house that doesn't have a tub, and especially in the master. I have specific concerns that make having a tub a necessity for me. I use it every day. Together with this, I realize that most of population don't have my concerns. Hey, I didn't have them myself ten years ago)) Some things don't come to mind until we encounter them. Yet, sometimes they do happen. In any case, I'd be wary to get rid of all tubs in a house. It definitely hurts the resale. I can think of many many occasions when a tub can be very useful, or become very useful, to people who hadn't used or preferred it before.

My friends have this set up in their home in Kyoto. You take a shower first so you are clean then you get inside the soaking tub. The soaking tub is not drained for days and has a heater inside so the water stays hot, similar to a hot tub but without the jets. Toilet and sink are in a separate closet nearby. It's been awhile since I've visited but I recall the "shower" part was a wall with multiple hand sprayers (so multiple people could wash up at same time). It included stools you could sit on while you washed up. The soaking tub was quite large with a deck around it and could fit multiple people. I don't remember the floor being slippery. I do remember feeling icked out when I learned the tub was drained infrequently -- until I realized everyone took a shower before soaking. Basically to answer your question, in such an arrangement, you aren't wiping it out everyday. It stays wet and gets drained and cleaned once a week.
