Tub/shower combo & 2 sinks or Separate Tub & Shower & 1 sink
Comments (7)Is there any way to run plumbing to the separate vanity area to make it into a sink? We are doing a gut remodel of our bathroom and we were able to cram in the shower, 5'6" claw foot tub, toilet and two sinks (on adjacent walls though, not next to each other) in a slightly less than 10'x11' space including sloped ceilings and a couple of windows. Here is an older version of our plan for the bathroom but shows the two sinks. The one next to the tub is a console sink (on chrome legs) so very open and the tub is now a double ended tub with plumbing in the middle. Here is a newer plan showing a tile layout I was messing with and the right tub. It also shows a bump out for a knee wall where the new drain is going to run - it turns out there was steel angle along that wall and we could not run the drain line under it so had to go through. It's more of a challenge to get the water there but wasn't impossible....See MoreShower/tub curtain or glass when you need to bathe kids?
Comments (20)Skuba, there are other options in smaller tubs. Home Depot carries the ones I am going to talk about. First there is the one mentioned above, the Bootz Honolulu. It is only $139. It is 46.5" long, 27" wide, and 15 inches high. Porcelain over steel construction. For more room and presumably better quality, there is the Kohler Seaforth that is 54" long, 30.25" wide and 14" high. That extra six inches gives you your toilet wall and extra room. This tub is sold for $1148 in white. It is cast iron and porcelain. There is also the Kohler Greek soaker tub that is 48" x 32" in Acrylic. I think it is too big in the 32" dimension for your current layout. It is drop-in, so needs a structure and tile work around it. I wonder if it would fit in the alcove where your toilet is scheduled to go. Then the toilet could have a half-wall separating it from the vanity, over where the other end of the tub was going to be. I am currently planning for a bath remodel in the only full bathroom in our house. I am toying with the idea of putting a tiny tub in my half-bath before that construction. It would give us a place to shower during the renovation (going down to the studs or further, there is a lot of water damage to be repaired in the big bath and we won't have a shower while the work is being done). The half bath is only 69" x 52", so fitting a bathtub in there will be a miracle. The reason I am considering it is that the big bath will have a wheelchair accessible shower because I will need one in the future. I had considered just making the half bath into a wet room - a shower with a toilet and washbasin in it - but there is no way to maneuver a wheelchair into that room, so the shower has to be in the big bath. So if I can fit a tub in the half bath, parents could still bathe kids there. Lascatx mentioned the one long sink with two faucets. I am planning to do that in our big bath. DH insists that we have the ability to both get ready for the day at the same time. My solution is the get the Kohler Brockway Utility sink in the 36" length with two faucets. I will either set it into an old 42" dresser I just bought for $125 (with a 6" deep ledge running the whole length behind the sink to provide more counter space) or a 42" to 48" vanity base with drawers. Here is one picture I found. I love the backsplash!...See MoreShower Curtain or Shower Doors in tub?
Comments (12)You know what I wish is that there was a pocket glass door that could go all the way into the wall and that the track wouldn't be a ridge that you couldn't sit on. I will probably get a glass door for my 3-wall alcove tub, which has a glass door now. But as I am not a shower person (although the tub will have shower apparatus) ... I am ALMOST tempted to just leave it open, and stash a lightweight/compact shower rod with curtain in the closet. I think, like I said, that I'll opt for the practicality of having a glass sliding door. But not a fan of them overall. It's just that I dislike shower curtains more....See MoreTub/Shower Sliding Door...or Shower Curtain?
Comments (14)We put in the clear shower doors available at Lowes and love them. We squeegee each time and wipe the shower control and tracks with a towel. DH is actually so into it that if I take a shower and fail to do the job, he mentions it. I never thought I would be a squeegee person. I am always in a hurry, but I can do this in less than one minute. Less than one minute to help avoid hours of shower scrubbing. A no-brainer. In my hall bath, I wouldn't let the man put shower doors back in. The tracks got in the way of the Little Girl sitting on the edge of the tub to shave her legs, the shower/toilet area is tiny anyway, and there is little room to maneuver. So, I bought a couple of nice terry (white) shower curtains from HomeGoods. They always have nice and inexpensive shower curtains and other bath supplies. I keep it open so the room doesn't close in on you. Red...See Moreruthie51
