Maximizing small laundry space
Comments (2)Definitely think "up" -- I have some cabinets installed in the space over my laundry machines and they are great for storing all the detergent etc. As for color -- I tend to agree with your builder to go same color as the kitchen cabinets, I have seen some houses where they went white in the adjoining laundry area and to me it looked funny. Comments (19)Herbflavor- I will try the 3 sketches. I've heard of the Liebherr, might be a bit out of range, $3000 for a freestanding 24", also sounds like service maybe expensive too. I do like the counter depth and compactness it would provide though. Katsmah- great idea, although the fridge door swinging how it does makes easy access to beer when I'm in the next room over (living/dining room). Moving the fridge towards the right may address this though. roarah- Another great idea! Except my sink/cooktop wall is an exterior wall, I may not be able to do this depending on what's behind there, but I can do it on the opposite wall. Also- a standard studded wall is 3.5" deep, how did you fit a toaster here? fori- Aisle is 49" wide from edge of existing countertop to countertop. I may be able to get a few (3) more inches by taking out studs on the fridge wall. It's a non-bearing wall, I planned to do this with the 'fridge anyhow so it doesn't stick out as far as it does now. I'll see if I can fit 30" depth cabinets but I dont think there's going to be enough space, not to mention the added expense. Yes, cabinets all the way up to the ceiling is in the plans, and yes I can, there's nothing behind there but air. On the existing fridge wall, the soffit stops at the pantry. I made a graph paper sketch, I'll have to find it and scan it....See MoreSquare up with house vs maximize space- pool and p-house design????
Comments (3)While I understand your designer’s wish to square off the pool house to be consistent with your actual house, I wouldn’t want to create dead space behind the pool house and lose space where you want it; I.e., between the pool and the pool house. Landscaping could soften the different angles of the two structures. I like the original plan much more....See MoreHow to maximize space in this basement?
Comments (8)Why would somebody rent a three bedroom unit with only a kitchenette that has one cabinet? Those in need of three bedrooms are usually multiple people households who want more than a kitchenette and a cramped tiny bathroom. Also, bedrooms need to have egress and I don't see how yours will. What area of the country do you live in? How much would you rent a 3 bedroom for and how long would it take to recoup your construction costs? I'd consider making this a very nice 1 bedroom with a real kitchen, decent bathroom, and living dining space. You need to figure out whether those windows are ok for a bedroom egress....See Moretalley_sue_nyc
