I Think I Made a few totems, What do you think?
Comments (13)I made all nine in two days. Maybe I do something different. I stack and glue the pieces all at once. I don't have the patience to wait for each piece to set...the tall thin one is my favorite. I found Candle sticks and the mini vases on top at one yard sale Saturday Morning and had it put together as soon as I got home. If you want to see them close up click on the picture and I have singles of each close up in the album on Picasa. I must confess the red birdbath is simple clear glass that I have painted with glass paint. I wanted to try my hand at revers painting on glass. I am please with the results. I may have to make another painted one I have lots of clear glass but color sure makes a statement. When I started I was only gonna make one or two, Because I had no interuptions I just kept going! I wanted One of each color of the rainbow! LOL They will all be displayed in one Bed, held in with sand then Mulch. I also found Brand New White vinyl edgeing to use but I want to paint it first or at least wash it with some color. I am worried about Hurricane season. LOL Here are some pics of the bird bath. From Glass Totems From Glass Totems Not happy with inside pics..I will be sure to post pics when I bet them all out side. Thanks ya'll!...See MoreWhat do y'all think about this house?
Comments (18)So... today I trespassed a bit. I was just too curious, I had to go peek in the windows for myself. Unfortunately my phone was dead so I couldn't take pictures, but here are my updates! The curb appeal is much better in real life than in the picture. The roof was much steeper than I was expecting - it reminded me a lot of Allison Ramsey's Holiday House (but a derelict version, of course!). I was right - it was absolutely a dogtrot. The center hall is beautifully proportioned, better than I had hoped. Wide, with a lovely view straight out the back. The baseboards and trim were plain and wide, very nice. Re the siding: the paint was peeling everywhere and a number of clapboards were damaged, but I tried to push my nail in on a few spots and they weren't soft. There were a few spots where the eaves board (?) was broken/dangling, and the metal roof was faded in a few places. Structurally, I don't have enough knowledge to even venture a guess, but other than some sloped porch steps everything seemed plumb. EXCEPT: the old stone chimney was missing some stones, and there was a crack running through a portion of it. Honestly, the chimney did not look safe whatsoever, and I think it would have to go. I was also right re. dating the additions, etc., because I caught a glimpse of a pink bathroom through a back window :) The oddest thing about the house that I saw were the floors. Except the one room I posted previously with the wood paneling (which was in an addition), it seemed as if the floors have been covered in concrete. Of course, I couldn't go inside, but the front porch definitely was concrete and it looked like the same material was continued inside. It was almost as if the house had been built on a slab - but it is definitely on piers. The view off the front porch was lovely (though overgrown) - I saw at least two very old live oaks in the front yard. Attached is my rough floor plan. The outline/dimensions are from the property appraiser's site, the porches are in blue, and the greyed areas are the ones I couldn't see through windows b/c I was too short. The back screen porch was inaccessible b/c the door was locked. Yes, that front room is really really big....See MoreI don't know what y'all think but these ads
Comments (53)I ran into a problem after installing and using firefox for a few days. I was not able to open some videos. It would tell me I needed to update my Adobe Flash Player but when I'd try and do just that I'd get it started to install and it would tell me there was a conflict with Mozilla. So, I'd try using my IE to install the update the Adobe Flash Player and it would tell me that there was a conflict with IE. I came across a few more issues too so finally had to uninstall Firefox. I was very sorry to have to since it had eliminated the ads and popups on various sites I frequent. :( I did have to use IE for some of my stops but here or the news site I use, the adblocker plus was a real treat. Don't know what went wrong maybe someone would know. Also, I noticed yesterday evening, even after uninstalling firefox that the ads were still and not very many of them. Not so today, they are in full force like they were before I installed firefox. I'm so confused....See MoreDo Y'all think the leaves I got from my neighbor has 2,4-d in them?
Comments (5)I'm wondering why there would be 2,4-D residue on these leaves in the first place. If you collected the fallen leaves months afterwards, how would 2,4-D get on them if they were on the trees when it was applied? Yes, it could volatilize/drift up into the trees, but that could happen if anyone within 1/4 mile sprayed and you would never know. 2,4-D is one of the least persistent herbicides, it degrades in most soils within a month to almost undetectable levels. It's half-life is very short. The general recommendation is to wait at least 7 days after a 2,4-D spray directly to the soil before seeding that same area....since it can temporarily reduce germination. I wouldn't be concerned at all if I were in your situation, but you can worry if that's what you like to do....See MoreCedric Owens
