Day 5, My House in August: Outside
Comments (44)I'll play. I'll try to catch up on the other photos on the appropriate threads. With the exception of the immediate photo below (you'll guess why I'm including it), I'll try to keep this to my new build, not my current legal residence. Juvenile venison, he/she seems to have a twin, too. Connecticut, yesterday. Cannas plants. I planted them late, but they seem to be thriving on the southeast area of my future home. Massachusetts. These ones will be vibrantly red, probably starting this week. A few weekends ago, I had house guests up at my future home. That red dot is their drone, with which we had fun....See MoreDay 8, My House in August: Living Room
Comments (32)What a fun thread! My mother spent several years pointing out whenever she dropped by that my house is very comfortably arranged for a pair of hermits (yes, we are) but it lacks a seating area that would encourage congregation and conversation. DH and I just smiled and agreed with her. But when an extremely heavy friend planned to visit over a long weekend, I took the comment more seriously and decided a seating area was needed that would accommodate a very large person comfortably. The living room is long (22 ft) and narrow, with a 12-ft window on one long wall and a stacked stone fireplace and large built-in bookcase filling the other. We have to have a place for plants in front of the window (outside of which is a wonderfully private backyard) with enough space there to be able to close the curtains against the strong afternoon sun. Okay, I finally shot my bolt; bought love seats, pillows, and a rug; and probably will never do anything like it again. The guest, darn it all, got sick and will have to visit another time. But DH and my brother both like it (actually, they both expressed an unflattering degree of surprise that they do like it), and now Mom has a comfortable place to sit while she points out what I should do with the rest of the house, beginning with finding more items to display on the top shelf of the bookcase....See MoreDay 15-My House in August: Green
Comments (49)@ Caroline: "...she had the most vile, evil temper to ever be contained in a bird-suit. LOL We all loved her; she hated everyone and everything! She lived a long, healthy, indulged life, too, in spite of herself...." For some reason this is a description I wouldn't mind if someone attributed to me! You know, someone you can't help but want to be around! Anyway, here are my green contributions: My living room chairs - armless, but sooooo comfortable ...and a collage of Parisian items. I've loved lilies of the valley since I was a pre-teen and collected the container, the Lalique perfume bottle, and the Limoges tray on various trips to France. The print is a birthday card from a friend acknowledging my love for all things French (my first college major) and my completely unruly hair....See MoreDay 16 My House in August "Bedroom"
Comments (26)Bumbebeez, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. I really don't have good photos of our BR. These are after repainting last summer. I had planned on BM Stonington Gray but I gave the painters the wrong gallon, so we have BM Nantucket Fog! Oh well, I think the Nantucket Fog is probably a nicer color anyways, and I sold the unopened gray paint on Nextdoor. I bought the Lexington white BR furniture when I was single, and I paid good money for it. So, yeah, I'm sure not DH's first choice. So, I have the paisley bedding that is a little less feminine. The iron headboard we got after we got a new mattress. I never ordered the Seaside headboard because it was really big. Needed to include kitty pics, too! Here is the guest room that I also posted on the "green" thread. It is also a cat room. I do not use the Marimekko bedding for every day. I have another coverlet. I posted yesterday we are thinking about giving up the guest room to make it more of a music room or else a workout room. Walls are SW Celery....See Moreraphaellathespanishwaterdog
