I got a new toy..
Comments (17)Wes has one; a mega 64-something, it-does-everything model. He downloads a lot of pod-casts on hunting dogs, training hunting dogs, fishing, and hunting, etc. He's also taking "Speak German" iPod lessons. He has all our photos and music in it. I got him a Bose docking station/speakers. It sounds awesome. He downloads the Prairie Home Companion pod cast each week and we listen to it in the den. I want one of my own. I would put my every-growing collection of audio books in it. I'd get a small docking station so I could carry it around the house and out to the garden as I do chores and "stuff." I listen to the audio books this way now, but I have to carry the bigger CD player and keep changing the discs. I don't like wearing ear buds. I want an iPod, or an iPad....See MoreMusic...What's Your Guilty Pleasure?
Comments (41)I have fairly eclectic taste in music, but as a general rule I find myself more drawn to music that works on more than one level, especially music in which you can hear the virtuosity of the performers. Either their skill on their respective instruments or in the voice of the vocalist, or in the poetic beauty of the lyrics. For my tastes much of the popular music spectrum fails at one or more of the above, and demonstrates instead the skill of the post-production crew in hiding the flaws of the performers who are often famous more for being pretty or sexy or dancing well. Furthermore if a piece of music requires me to listen carefully to the lyrics to enjoy it, or even to differentiate it from other works within its genre, I'd rather have silence. To this includes pretty much everything that would be called "hip-hop" or "heavy metal" as well as much of the new pop-country and the old country music....See MoreHave your radio stations started Christmas music?
Comments (15)We sing in a Christmas chorale and have to memorize all our music. That's pretty much all the Christmas music I can get into. We have a local radio station that starts playing non-stop Christmas music about a week before Thanksgiving. I refuse to listen to that station any longer. There's only so much Burl Ives' Holly Jolly Christmas and Brenda Lee's Rockin Around the Christmas Tree I can stomach. I only listen to Sirius radio, my iTunes music or one local talk radio station. If there is a weather emergency and I happen to be in the car, I will tune into a local station for updates....See MoreOrganizing your photo, video, music files
Comments (5)Richard, Mo - yeah, I need something like a meta-data tag that I can alter per file, quickly and easily. Then search and sort by tags, and various configurations of tags. It could/should be more complex than renaming a file, but simpler than Foobar's display capabilities. Maddie, I played with my search function and it's less than I want. For instance, I can search on "daffodil" and get lots of pics of yellow flowers. But I can't search on "yellow" or "yellow flower" or "flower yellow" -- I get a null result for those terms. I could make up an album scheme but then I'd have to drag/drop or click/paste each time I put a pic in an album. So if I had albums for yellow, flowers, landscapes, national parks, insects ... one picture of a daisy with a butterfly on it in the park overlook would go in five albums. [edited to add: still one picture file, not five picture files, but that's still more clicking than I want to do.] I'd rather have one big tag field that I could type those words into, and later search on them. Dedtired, what do you mean by keeping photos in categories? Is that the same, or different, than folders aka albums?...See Moreskibby (zone 4 Vermont)
