floral suggestions in dry shade
Comments (29)Thanks so much to Wattleblossum for the great inspiration. I'm embracing the rugged beauty of my difficult garden. I too didn't have much of a clue about north or south facing situations before I bought my house. Boy am I aware now. Of course not long after moving in I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life! The living areas were south facing, the front garden where we invisaged a lawn for our 2 year old was shaded by the house 6 months of the year and pretty much no sun reached the rest, the back yard being higher than the house. But great views of the bush from up there. But rather than wallowing in what seemed at the time bad real estate decisions, I now love my garden (always loved the house) and can see that it will be a very interesting and beautiful place to be, if I succeed in nurturing it. Also thanks to Danili for your suggestions. I'm churning through them. I actually planted a boronia a few weeks ago. It lasted about 3 weeks before curling it's toes and disintigrating in front of my eyes! Am a little scared of them now! A...See MoreDecorating around an 80's floral couch
Comments (21)oh wow. that's some nice upholstery! I'd go for visually light, leggy furniture..so that the room wouldn't be too bottom heavy. If you love rattan-there are beautiful pieces of furniture made of it, from small end tables to etageres. I can see some industrial element as well-to juxtapose with the very comfy, patterned chairs. Plants, of course. Bohemian doesn't necessarily gravitate toward bright colors..there are no rules when it comes to bohemian, i guess that's partly what makes this style..No strict rules, and an attitude of a traveler I found some pictures-they use neutrals mostly, yet the rooms are bohemian I think your chairs are wonderful. I wouldn't even think of reupholstering them, unless the fabric is torn or ruined or something. Can you attach a pic of your room? But if not-can you move everything out of the room, or, say, put it all in a corner, and look only at the chairs? Or even-sit on the floor, look at the chairs?:) some brilliant ideas come when we change things, or at list our visual relationship to them I'd make these chairs stars of the show. You have a great opportunity to create a unique room, with these....See MoreBeautiful style couch but ugly floral print
Comments (66)Thanks guys! I will be slowly changing the place around. I also have a roommate and our tastes clash quite a bit unfortunately. His style is monochromatic and nautical and I'm more bohemian/vintage. I've made the decision to move to a single apartment with darker flooring this summer so I'll make sure to use your ideas in the new place. For now I will just make small adjustments with pillows and rugs. Your ideas have been inspiring and I hope to make an awesome living room....See MoreDecorating on the back wall over a Floral Couch
Comments (20)I love your sofa fabric, beautiful. Lovely room. Can you show us the rest of the room and any adjoining? Do you have curtains? I’m a big fan of mixing patterns and colors, and think your room could go in that direction and look great. I like the pillows jck shows. Skirted, floral furniture has been making a comeback with UK designers for a while now — I’m seeing it more and more with well-known American designers, recently, too. Is it a look you like … traditional with mixing in other styles, using more patterns, a layered look? I think editing your wall unit would look nice, and art over your sofa. New lamps, possibly new coffee table … we just need to see more of the room. Until then, I’m playing around with rugs … and the idea of layering them for interest. Or different large one:...See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
