If you have the budget, reupholster the couch/chairs to suit your taste rather than spending hours and money to try to make them fit into your decor.

I'm thinking fabrics with texture and geometrics. However, I'd probably have them reupholstered if they're in good shape. In the long run, you'll be happier decorating in the style you like best rather than compromising.

Posting a photo of the chair would really help - these women at GW are whizz’s at finding the ideal coordinating colors, textures, etc. However, if the chairs are really that comfortable, you truly may want to pay to have them professionally reupholstered for continued use.

Have you looked at caribbean classic furniture? Like the furniture that came from Europe to the Caribbean Islands, dark wood, curved lines, white sheers, etc. Ethan allen used to have a line of furniture. It looks expensive. You should look for pics on google. Tropical prints should look fine with that style. I love that style. It can be mixed with straight lines too.

I had a flowered couch in the 70-80's...big yellow/orange/green flower design. I teamed them with orange chairs and some dark wood tables, and green carpeting (shag at that time) and looked pretty good. Your couch could be a plain color with your figure pattered chairs.

I'm not sure what a sofa chair is, but can you make it look like the chairs are accents, rather decorating around them as if they are the main theme of the room?

Thank you everyone! Reupholstering seemed like an expensive option, but it's not out of the question. So the chairs are much larger than an accent chair. They're huge. Two full grown adults can sit side by side with not much difficulty. It's basically a foot and a half short of a loveseat. And there are TWO of them. They're like two giant floral mountains. Lol. Between the size and the pattern they completely dominate the room. I was trying to pick a set of pillows for the couch that's there now and didn't even know where to start.

I really like the botanical print fabric, so many color choices to work with!. For example, you can use soft yellows and greens with pops of orange .

I sure wasn't expecting that GORGEOUS fabric! I sew a lot, and buy way too much fabric. If I saw that available today, I would be buying some. That chair looks brand new! Can you possibly show pictures of the room so we could offer more suggestions, you lucky girl? You have so many possibilities with that fabric.

They are chair 1/2, larger that a regular lounge or club chair but not as big as a loveseat. Lots of color to work with in these chairs; could go with browns, creams, greens, reds or even yellows.

You are lucky to have those chairs in a great print! I love the suggestion of the British West Indies furniture to go with the two chairs. Maybe a dark campaign chest placed between them. I would not angle them but place together with a square table between, to sort of treat them as one unit.

I lived through the 80's and had floral furniture then; my stuff was no where near as cool as your chairs.

Wow, I'm glad you guys like the fabric! I'm coming around to it. I decorate almost exclusively in soft vintage neutrals so this chair felt like a big challenge. :) The room as it is now is filled with bachelor furniture and no decorations, haha. The other furniture is a black futon, mixed pressboard bookshelves, and a Spanish red-tiled square coffee table. Perhaps I just couldn't see the beauty of the chairs surrounded by all of that. Lol

The suggestions are lovely!! I definitely like the idea of pairing them with dark wood furniture/chests. I had been thinking of a bohemian look but most of the things I find in that style are very brightly colored (a lot of teals, oranges, lemon yellows, and fuscias) whereas the color pallet of the chairs is more muted. These little navy/red-orange/white leaf motif sections are what gave me hope for the print.

I'd so spray paint something high gloss in that red fruit color or in navy, maybe your bookshelf or side table.

I would consider a mainly black and yellow with rose accents (just because I don't like green) with the chairs being the dominant pieces.

• Walls in a very pale creamy yellow.

• black and yellow stripe or small geometric for curtains.

• dark wood furniture (the "British Colonial West Indies" look)

• tan (seagrass? wool) rugs (very plain unless you get lucky and find a tan with black border.

• Accent pillows and pieces in the deep rose and blue and greens

Thank you! You've all inspired me to have faith in these chairs. :D I'm especially appreciating the tips on what to do about pillows and curtains. Coordinating with other fabrics is what will be tricky to me. Does anyone have any examples that they think would work well?

I'd go for visually light, leggy furniture..so that the room wouldn't be too bottom heavy. If you love rattan-there are beautiful pieces of furniture made of it, from small end tables to etageres. I can see some industrial element as well-to juxtapose with the very comfy, patterned chairs. Plants, of course.

Bohemian doesn't necessarily gravitate toward bright colors..there are no rules when it comes to bohemian, i guess that's partly what makes this style..No strict rules, and an attitude of a traveler

I think your chairs are wonderful. I wouldn't even think of reupholstering them, unless the fabric is torn or ruined or something.

I'd make these chairs stars of the show. You have a great opportunity to create a unique room, with these.

or, you can go for traditional as well-which is often have bohemian features about it, since both styles appreciate collections and patterns so much, and are very cozy..

About fabrics. I'd take something plain (maybe in a fabric like velvet, or linen) and I'd also pick another botanical)) It doesn't have to have all the same colors, but must pick a couple colors of the chairs print.

i'd also go for the best quality i can afford, when picking the fabric. Needs to be rich, not flimsy.

I'm feeling the need for masses of solid ivory textiles and lots of green plants. But the ivory may clash with your white trim.

But that's because I like simple. Boho is not simple.
