Adenium Obesum leaves getting brown (pic)
Comments (4)Hi, Toni - I fertilized with Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro - can't remember the numbers on that one, and I no longer have the original container. I think I over-fertilized, since this plant can usually stand to be watered quite liberally, especially in summer. I am a little worried about leaching the soil because since I repotted this plant in a glazed ceramic container, it hasn't dried down as fast as I expected, but I guess I will have to try it before this brown crispiness gets any worse. I was thinking the problem was overwatering because the inner margins of the brown areas are yellow. Yes, hopefully this plant will pull through - it's one of my favorites - I actually rescued it from wal mart, which was selling it as a pseudo-bonsai (with the rocks glued over the top of the soil), and it had fallen down behind the shelves and gotten half-smashed. I was happy, though: I got it for half off! I have had it for a year and it's never showed signs of blooming....See MoreZone 4 Woody Ornamental Trials 11 years later-big surprises(pics)

The first winter was wimpy, but last winter got down below -25F, although not for a long period as it normally would. No flowers buds priduced yet. Mag. sieboldii is hit or miss here, depending on the seed source, but I have had one since 1995, and it blooms and fruits regularly. Others that are long time successes here are: Acer mayabei Aralia elata Calycanthus floridulus Calycanthus fertilis Carya illinoiensis(very northern seed, no flowering yet) Cercidiphylum japonicum Chamaecyparis pisifera types Cornus mas Corylus colurna Cotinus obovatus Diospyros virginiana 'Meader' Euodia danielii Fagus grandiflora Forsythia mandshurica 'Vermont Sun' Ilex x meserve 'Blue Boy', 'Blue Girl' Liriodendron tulipifera Picea asperata Picea crassifolia Styrax americanus(kankakee seed) Thuja koraiensis Thuja plicata 'Cuprea' Viburnum carlesii Viburnum x 'Juddii' Xanthoceras sorbifolia...See MoreNewbies got pics of your 1st year success?
Comments (20)Hi there, This is my first attempt at posting photos, so I hope the file size is not too huge. Please help me if I need to be more viewer-friendly with my images. My picture taking abilities are also a bit suspect. :) We have lots of dirt everywhere due to a recent foundation repair on the back of the house. Here goes! This is a front bed I made "lasagna style" last fall and am in the process of planting with perennials and annuals. Here is the middle of the front bed. I have mgs, black-eyed susan vines, and hyacinth bean, which will grow up and over the fencing--I hope! There are holly hocks, cosmos, 4 o'clocks, nicotania, and marigolds, too. Back of the house where you can see the foundation destruction. There are zinns, delphs, cosmos, snappies, cleome, nicotania, and 4 o'clocks all across the back. ws toms in the middle, basil, and rosemary (too tiny to see). The three big toms on the right are from a nursery. Barrell of dwarf sunnies, larkspur, and dahlias. Mgs, zinns, and marigolds. My hope is the MGs and sweetpeas (not seen on sides and behind) will climb up and around the chair. This is a picture from the "back" of the front bed, which is looking from the opposite side of picture #2. Lots of zinns, larkspur, and dahlias. Thanks for looking and letting me share! cheers, NB...See MoreTimmy1 Pics June 1st 2009! Very pic heavy...

(Mine have been 150 days - this year I started seeds on New Years Eve and picked my first 9 Auroras last week - my garden is on www.tomtomato.com) 4. Have you started your harvest and how long can you extend the season ? Here is a link that might be useful: My Site:...See MorePeter Newcastle Aust spider mite breeder
