Adding blueberries to Swedish Apple Pie
Comments (13)Well ladies, a little update. I had no pecans so used walnuts. I soaked before Annie's wise suggestion to toast so next time I will be toasting. Let me say this on the whole soak in booze thing...,that seemed to come together very well. I only had a little bit of brandy but had nearly a whole bottle of Vanilla Kahlua. So I mixed the two alcohols together with the nuts and blueberries and soaked them until about an hour ago. That little concoction smelled just heavenly when I threw it in with the apple pie. It's a recipe I found in a story about a farm from when I was a teen. I didn't write down what book or who wrote it. I just remember asking my mother is we could try this recipe this year and she agreed. It has been the recipe for pumpkin pie ever since....See MoreDo You Have A Favorite Blueberry Pie Recipe?

Comments (10)Has anyone ever made this with Splenda? I love sugar (and blueberries! and cream cheese!), but can't eat that much (I limit myself to less than 15 grams per meal, it's a digestion issue, not a diabetes issue). Based on my quick calculations, assuming 8 servings per pie, just the white sugar is 183 calories and 47 grams of sugar per slice. For comparison, when I make a deep dish apple pie I use 3/4-1 cup sugar. So, has anyone used Splenda or made this with less sugar?...See Moreplllog
