"KSN" may simply stand for Key Serial Number, indicating that the rose is exclusive to Pan American Nurseries and may as well be known by their Serial Number. I don't know why Dave's Garden doesn't list a KSN for Blue Lagoon, but you can probably tell that Pan American's own hybridizing varieties are not universally recognized. It's possible that your pink rose is "Paradise," but their impressive catalog (looks like they bought most of Weeks' stock) already carries Paradise (page 10). I'm not sure they'd have any advantage in selling a universally-recognized rose variety under their own, lesser-known variety name. I'd love to order their Climbing Peace (I killed mine), but they're obviously wholesalers with a $250 minimum order. So again, I think your rose may be exactly as labeled - just that as a light-sensitive-color-trait, you're going to get variations.

I filled out the online contact form for Hopewell nursery and received an e-mail back, so I sent pictures of the rose. The grower said it looked like Pink Enchantment. (AKA Souvenir de Baden Baden.) So it looks like greenburgroses and Beth were right! Chris--could Hopewell have gotten a trial under the Pink Enchantment name? I really appreciate everyone's efforts!

I just find it all so interesting. I've been on a quest to discover all I could about this 1902 house since we bought the property two years ago, and that for me includes the contents of the garden. You can find my full rose ID post, including an as yet still unidentified yellow rose and an unknown old hybrid sempervirens rambler over here. Among other things, learning about the garden is a window into who owned this house and how they lived. The house is one of the oldest on the island and predates roads. At the time it was built it would have been approached by boat, and all business on the island would have been done by boat. Need groceries? Paddle over and get some. It has quite a high ceiling for the time, and it's Craftsman-like while being just a smidge too old for the Craftsman movement. Whoever built it was unusual for the time as well in that they replanted. The island had been clear cut, and this particular property was replanted with native Western Red Cedar which was not common at the time, making them some of the oldest Wester Red Cedars on the island. And roses, as well as some of the other plants, can be to some extent dated, at least to when that specific rose was bred which can at least suggest when they might have been planted. How can that not be interesting? Of course it may be that I'm just weird. :)

Both Sheer Bliss and Stainless Steel are really good suggestions! SS is probably the closest match that I’ve seen. I had thought about it, but I guess I hadn’t looked closely enough at it. After examining photos on DG and HMF, there are some shots of SS that look just like my rose. Others give me a good bit of hesitation, though. Are the ruffle petals that I see in some pics of SS indicative of the variety? Mine usually does not exhibit ruffles like that. The fat, greenish buds with the sepals turned down are a dead ringer. Some photos also show a fair amount of luminous pink on the edges. Maybe mine just doesn’t turn “Lavender” as often, fr whatever reason. I can’t say that I would have ever classed mine as one of the lavender/mauve roses until this spring.
