Finally Got Some Nice Purples to Share
Comments (14)They are all beautiful, especially Carl's Folly. I like to photograph my flowers in the early morning, their colors are the richest then. We have had hot, dry days, but our mornings are chilly, causing many of my blooms to not opening properly, very disappointing....See MoreMy Brugmansia (angel trumpet) finally bloomed
Comments (7)fawnridge, I did have one branch that tried to do that this year. I was shocked, since I had never had one do it before. I tied the branch up to the main trunk so it could get stronger and not flop like that. Someone told me that those floppy shoots are a sign of too much water and too much fertilizer, so I cut back somewhat, and have had no floppy shoots since....See MoreRoyal Hawaiian Purple finally re-potted....
Comments (17)You're welcome! Yeah, I was surprised that they didn't come up larger when I posted them. Hmm....oh well. Oh wow, he was quite a tall man, and so young! Karen Carpenter was also 32 when she passed. I lost my best friend (Nikki) when I was 17 (she was 17 as well), and she was in a car wreck. It'll be 10 years this July and I still miss her something terribly. But I remember her fondly. I actually have a photo of her so now you can see what she looked like. I miss that hair of hers and her smile. Her laugh was contagious! I honored/honor her by nicknaming my carnosa after her and planting a butterfly garden/plants and flowers that attract butterflies. Her death hit us all pretty hard, too. But she lives on in my memory and through my carnosa, which has two peduncles on it, and I am *hoping* that she flowers for me this year. Comments (55)Lisa, mine is definitely not true red either. It does remind me of your photos a lot. I can take some upclose photos of the foliage for you tonight if it would be helpful. I do believe they are very heavily mossed. Last year was the first year it bloomed and I was bombarded with work and missed a lot of the blooming but I did snap that photo of it. Right as it bloomed I decided to tie the canes to the arbor you see because it was just draped along the ground. I do vaguely remember them fading to a bit of a purple, though I don't have a photo of it. I think it will look much nicer this year. I do remember it blooming in clusters a bit. I will make sure to take photos of it this year. It's a wonderful rose, if yours is HM you will continue to enjoy it!...See MoreVaporvac Z6-OhioRiverValley
