What do you Wear When You Garden?
Comments (28)I wear old jeans and t-shirts unsuitable for anything else. I rarely wear shorts as I cannot stand dirt at the back of my knees. Also always a baseball cap. I try to remember the sunscreen too but sometimes forget. I usually carry a bandana around to wipe my eyes if I get sweaty(which I do ). I wear last years hiking boots on my feet and always with socks. My pruners are clipped to my jeans in a holster, my pocket knife in my pocket and a pencil behind my ear. I try not to lose my gloves but it happens often. In fact I lost my right glove in the front yard and my left in the backyard on Sunnday! My mom came home from dinner and found them. I don't need sunglasses, my bifocals have transition lenses. I also use a kneeling pad for my bad knees. I tried the ones you wear but found the straps to be uncomfortable at the backs of my knees. When I worked landscaping for a living 20 years ago I had several sunscreen shirts. They were pricey but very nice. I have since not only aged but also expanded and they went to the goodwill years ago. My neighbors all think I'm a little off anyway when I'm talking to my flowers or out at the crack of dawn pollinating. So it dosen't really matter how I dress.LOL! Comments (37)I work in a high-tech company where most everyone is in their 20s and 30s. I'm a good 15 years older than anyone in my graphics team, including my manager. Ouch. As such, I really try not to dress in anything that might draw attention to my age. I try to be current without being trendy. And because I work closely with the officers and upper management of the company I have to look professional at all times. This means sensible tops, jackets, jewelry, slacks and pumps except on Casual Fridays when I wear a nice pair of jeans and a sweater or comfortable top. T-shirts are not allowed in our group, even though we are considered the "artsy, creative" kind who often throw caution to the wind when it comes to fashion. Comments (38)I hate hats too and living in SD there are times in the winter when I need one but my head itches so bad I cant stand them. As for hair extensions, no I wouldnt. I would never spend that kind of money on it for one thing and it would drive me nuts when my head itches like it does all the time. I worked with a girl who had them. She was half white and half black. She spent a lot of money to have them put in. This was when she was in high school. Then she couldnt afford to have themmaintained so you could always see the little rubber band things in her hair and it really looked stupid. Now she is attending hairdresser college and she has them in again and I still dont like them.So NO not for me....See MoreWould you wear this? Another gift giving question
Comments (26)Thanks, everyone. I think I will get it for her (and possibly get one of the deeply discounted ones for myself). I had really wanted the deep plum colour as it is one she wears well and know she loves, but it doesn't seem to be offered. I'm looking at the deep pink instead which, I think will compliment the wardrobe staples she already has in the deep plum. Mairecate, thank you for the specific info on Garnet Hill. I could probably find similar elsewhere, but it is a company I'm comfortable ordering from and it's good to know the quality of theirs is solid. Also, hearing from many that they are good for travelling is another selling point. Travelling is her passion and she and my FIL would take several trips a year. My FIL has not been well and she has dearly missed travelling the last couple of years. I'm thinking (with some sadness) that she will be able to travel again on her own before too long and that this would be useful. Localeater, all of those uses would be likely scenarios in my own life and make me want one of my own. My MIL has always chosen gifts for myself and my family with great care. I try to do the same for her, but admit, it is not my forte. Thanks, again for helping me to choose something special. I'll try to remember to update once it is given....See MoreMy3dogs ME zone 5A
