no, too much work and up keep for me LOL. my hair grows like a weed anyways, i can change from short to long in a few months. down side to that is just a month between colorings :-/ ~ liz

Insecticides and fungicides may be dangerous in different ways. That does not necessarly mean that one is less toxic than the other (in the long run). Some pesticide problems may not show up for many years and in a way unexpected such that that "route" was never tested for. The following recent research scientific paper is just one example of "the unexected/not tested". Title: Combined exposure to endocrine disrupting pesticides impairs parturition, causes pup mortality and affects sexual differentiation in rats Authors: P. R. Jacobsen, S. Christiansen, J. Boberg, C. Nellemann and U. Hass Authors affiliation: Department of Toxicology and Risk Assessment, National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark, Søborg, Denmark Published in: International Journal of Andrology, volume 33, pages 434��"442, (2010). ABSTRACT: "Risk assessment is currently based on the no observed adverse effect levels (NOAELs) for single compounds. Humans are exposed to a mixture of chemicals and recent studies in our laboratory have shown that combined exposure to endocrine disrupters can cause adverse effects on male sexual development, even though the doses of the single compounds are below their individual NOAELs for anti-androgenic effects. Consequently, we have initiated a large project where the purpose is to study mixture effects of endocrine disrupting pesticides at low doses. In the initial range-finding mixture studies, rats were gavaged during gestation and lactation with five doses of a mixture of the fungicides procymidone, mancozeb, epoxyconazole, tebuconazole and prochloraz. The mixture ratio was chosen according to the doses of each individual pesticide that produced no observable effects on pregnancy length and pup survival in our laboratory and the dose levels used ranged from 25 to 100% of this mixture. All dose levels caused increased gestation length and dose levels above 25% caused impaired parturition leading to markedly decreased number of live born offspring and high pup perinatal mortality. The sexual differentiation of the pups was affected at 25% and higher as anogenital distance was affected in both male and female offspring at birth and the male offspring exhibited malformations of the genital tubercle, increased nipple retention, and decreased prostate and epididymis weights at pup day 13. The results show that doses of endocrine disrupting pesticides, which appear to induce no effects on gestation length, parturition and pup mortality when judged on their own, induced marked adverse effects on these endpoints in concert with other pesticides. In addition, the sexual differentiation of the offspring was affected. This as well as the predictability of the combination effects based on dose-additivity modelling will be studied further in a large dose-response study." -------------------------------------------- The first part of the INTRODUCTION SECTION of the full paper may be of interest: "Animal laboratory experiments have shown that in utero exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) including some pesticides can cause adverse effects on male reproductive development (Foster, 2006; Gray et al., 2006; Hass et al., 2007; Metzdorff et al., 2007; Christiansen et al., 2008). Individual pesticides alone have so far not been shown to contribute to adverse human effects at relevant exposure levels. However, some studies indicate increased prevalence of cryptorchidism and decreased penile length in sons of women working as gardeners or Many EDCs have been found as mixtures in humans (Blount et al., 2000; Swan et al., 2005), including children (Brock et al., 2002; Swan et al., 2005; Main et al., 2006). Damgaard et al. (2006) observed an association between congenital cryptorchidism and the levels of certain organochlorine pesticides in mothers’ milk (Damgaard et al., 2006). Earlier, Pierik et al. (2004) identified paternal exposures to pesticides and smoking as factors associated with these congenital malformations. These initial observations in epidemiological studies points in the same direction as laboratory experiments with oestrogenic or anti-androgenic chemicals in which substantial mixture effects occurred even though each individual chemical was present at low, ineffective doses (Rajapakse et al., 2002; Silva et al., 2002; Hass et al., 2007; Metzdorff et al., 2007; Christiansen et al., 2008, 2009). Some pesticides such as vinclozolin and procymidone antagonize competitively the androgen receptor (AR) binding of androgens and affect mainly the reproductive development in male offspring (Kelce et al., 1997; Ostby et al., 1999). Other pesticides such as mancozeb and propineb act mainly via disruption of the thyroid hormones and are mainly suspected to disrupt brain development (Hurley, 1998; Hass & Axelstad, Personal Communication). Our detailed research on prochloraz, combined with studies on other azole fungicides such as tebuconazole and epoxyconazole, indicates that these pesticides have the ability to react through several endocrine disrupting mechanisms, and to induce various endocrine disrupting effects (Vinggaard et al., 2005a,b; Taxvig et al., 2007). We have shown that prochloraz induced anti-androgenic effects in rats in vivo in a Hershberger test as well as in a developmental toxicity study (Vinggaard et al., 2002, 2005a). In addition, our studies show that prochloraz increases gestation length and indicate that prochloraz may also affect thyroid hormone levels and cause effects on the sexually dimorphic development of the brain (Vinggaard et al., 2002, 2005a). Both tebuconazole and epoxyconazole increase gestation length and pup mortality and furthermore, these pesticides virilise female pups, and affect steroid hormone levels in foetuses and ⁄ or dams (Taxvig et al., 2007)."

As I matter of fact I do wear jewelry differently at my 2 homes! I can't stand cold metal touching me so I don't wear necklaces in the winter (from Nov to about March) at my regular home. And I wear one particular pair of earring almost all winter because they dangle but not long enough to touch my skin. Some of the longer ones end up touching my neck from my scarves & bulky coat so I avoid those. It's crazy but cold metal just sends a chill right through me and makes me feel colder. Since it's warmer in HHI, I do wear necklaces & earrings and even bracelets. I usually bring a few down with me so that I can have some variety. One necklace at a time, if it's bold than the earrings are smaller. One bracelet at a time and it depends on my sleeve length. In both places, I occasionally wear rings when I remember them. Your comments about gold & blue reminds me that I have an 18k gold ring with a lapis lazuli stone. I should dig that out and start wearing it again.

So my wife's friend calls me and tells me she is at my house. My wife is taking a quick nap in her dress because we have somewhere to go about an hour later. I picked her heels off the floor and hid them because I knew if someone came over the first thing she would do is look for heels to put on. So I sneak my wife's friend in the front door with her daughter. I am very tall but couldn't believe how tall they were with the heels they bought on. They must have been `12" because even at my height they seemed just a little shorter than me. They could barely walk in them. I go into my bedroom and tell my wife that someone was here to see her. She said "what, I didn't hear the door?" She got up and immediately said "where are my heels? I left them right there on the floor. Who is it at the door?" I told her someone from church I didn't recognize which she didn't think much about because she was always talking to people at church I didn't know. So she said "whatever, I don't want to keep them waiting" So she walks out of our room into the entry way and stands awestruck when she sees them. My poor wife was in shock as they walked up to her to hug her and her head had to tilt all the way up to see them. I thought it was so funny that she was just taller than them at church and now looked so tiny next to them. In her pantyhose feet she was towered over by her friend and her daughter. They teased her and patted her on the head calling her shorty. It was so funny.

I work in a high-tech company where most everyone is in their 20s and 30s. I'm a good 15 years older than anyone in my graphics team, including my manager. Ouch. As such, I really try not to dress in anything that might draw attention to my age. I try to be current without being trendy. And because I work closely with the officers and upper management of the company I have to look professional at all times. This means sensible tops, jackets, jewelry, slacks and pumps except on Casual Fridays when I wear a nice pair of jeans and a sweater or comfortable top. T-shirts are not allowed in our group, even though we are considered the "artsy, creative" kind who often throw caution to the wind when it comes to fashion. Jodi-

Too expensive but if I had money to burn it would be fun. I like to change my hair color and my hair is long so extensions would just be another way to change things up. I would never do fake nails. Don't even like the weight of polish on my hands.

I'm not a fan of extensions. If done well, they look ok, but most that I see are really obvious. My neice has them and spends a fortune every couple of months.

When you do some research into the origin of the hair, it is unethical, in my opinion.

The hair is harvested from poor people in developing nations, and then sold for a fortune in western countries.

No, I wouldn't but my hair is long anyway. I just wear what I was given and the colour I was given....which is salt and pepper right now :)

I have an inch wide strip of pink hair with a comb-clip on the end that I wear I wear in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I bought it two years ago at a fundraising event and it blends nicely in my hair.

I live in DeLand, Florida. Downtown DeLand changes all of their streetlamps to pink for the month of October. :o)

Yes, I would wear them if I wasn't so cheap! I don't even buy outer wear retail - my clothes come from thrift shops and garage sales. I can afford to buy new, but am just too cheap.

Well-placed and maintained hair extensions are very pretty - my ex-hairdresser had them, but paid $100 every two months to keep them looking good - a waste of money imho!

I have long hair anyway, but being 60, I don't think really long, long hair would look too good! LOL

No, I'm another that has been blessed with fast growing, healthy hair and nails. My hair is short, I had it shoulder length for a couple of years but since hitting middle age I have found that short looks much better. And it's easier! LOL!!

No,no,no, not for me. But my younger daughter is a hairdresser and puts them on herself. She has been applying for jobs in aalons where they do extensions, they are quite expensive and the hair dressers make $700 or more a week.

I bought hot pink hair extensions at a Breast Cancer Research fundraiser the first of October, and it was fun! I only lasted about 10 days tho before my comb kept snagging on them and had to have them removed. I'd love to find the comb-type that Renee mentioned, I'd wear them all month!

I do! And I love them. I have fine, thin hair and once I got them 8 years ago, I never went back. You can't even tell that I have them because they're the same shoulder length as my real hair. They're more like fillers.

I have the hair bonds like Paris Hilton et al wears (you could see them one time when she was blow drying her hair on her reality show). Very expensive but it's my one vice. And it's less hassle for me to upkeep in constantly humid weather.

I'm not a hair person so the less I have to touch it the better.

When I had no hair from the chemo, I couldn't stand the thought of wearing a wig so I don't think that I would.....however......with that said.........If I was young, footloose and fancy free and no issue with Money....I might....who knows. I think if it was a big improvement but the truth is, long hair is not that becoming on me.......

Nope, did wear a wig back some 40 years. DH got tired of asking where our DD got her red hair, ours was both dark brown, and he bought me an auburn wig. lol.
There was red hair on both sides of the family back a ways but he got tired of explaining that.

This wig looked really good and I wore it every now and then when we sent somewhere. Went to visit my sister one time and wore it and she didn't even recognize me at first, made me look so different and better I might add. lol.

Absolutely not! If I wanted long hair I would just let it grow.

Way back years ago when I was a CNA, and on call, I had a (short hair) wig that was so natural looking no one knew the difference. I could put it on and be out the door in a heart beat.

There is too much fake stuff now anyway. Fake boobs, fake fingernails, fake eyelashes, fake lips, fake white teeth, etc.

No, I have a ton of hair. I don't want more.

A good friend of mine wears them for the same reason as Zeetera, though, and they've been wonderful for her. She used to be so embarrassed by the bald spots showing through her hair, and now she feels prettier.

LOL at Glenda!! Years ago my friend and i both got wigs,and one day we were going to another town to shop and we both wore them.When we were about 1/2 way there i ripped mine off in the car,and combed my own long hair into a pony tail.Much more comfy,and i threw the wig in the goodwill bag when i got home.

I don't even like hats!!!

I hate hats too and living in SD there are times in the winter when I need one but my head itches so bad I cant stand them. As for hair extensions, no I wouldnt. I would never spend that kind of money on it for one thing and it would drive me nuts when my head itches like it does all the time. I worked with a girl who had them. She was half white and half black. She spent a lot of money to have them put in. This was when she was in high school. Then she couldnt afford to have themmaintained so you could always see the little rubber band things in her hair and it really looked stupid. Now she is attending hairdresser college and she has them in again and I still dont like them.So NO not for me.
