help with bedding
Comments (3)Perhaps you could use just a simple white matelasse cover, which is relatively easy to find, and use your pillows to bring in any specific colors. If you look at the majority of this designer's bedrooms, which I love, that's what she usually does. Just click on any of the residences, and browse through the bedrooms, to see how she usually starts with a white spread, and adds color with accents in wall colors, pillows and accessories. Comments (28)Hi Annie, Yes, I saw that! Look, at me, I am such a trendsetter, HB has a whole spread on coral. I thought i'd vacillated enough on this forum so I spared you all the last. When I finally got the sham, and put it with the dragon fabric, it went so perfectly, I was sold. To wit: So I am doing a an oversized neckroll pillow in the dragon, and roman shade. The bedding is the coral-banded Serena and Lily. The rug stays. I chose a navy and white arabesque for the window seat. Only problem I have now is the blue/white kantha arrived and the white is very grey. So I am back on the hunt for a blue (toward navy but not terribly dark) and true white casual throw. Moodboard: As far as the back, adjoining guest room, I was at the house Monday and the fact is when you are in that room you won't even see any of the dragon or coral in the front guest room. I don't think it will drive the design too much. Right now I am leaning toward white blousy curtains maybe with just a bit of trim on the leading edge (i think Marcolo suggested that), coupled perhaps with this Missoni inspired rug I've always liked. I think it pulls in the bedding colors but also sort of ages them nicely. P.S. Don't look Mom, I know I need to iron all this bedding!...See MoreHelp with bedroom wall color and bedding
Comments (23)My problem with the valance is that not only is it very dark, but also very masculine. I'm assuming you are woman -- perhaps incorrectly. But that valance and furniture to me says "boy's room". I think the furniture is fine in that the lines are simple and classic and the wood is a nice warm tone. If you want to repaint then start with the bedding in a color palette that pleases you. Then select a color from the bedding to put on the walls. The brown in the furniture is a neutral and can be ignored for making your bedding selection. I wouldn't automatically rule out new valances as you probably don't need to go custom. Depending on the price of the bedding, which can vary tremendously, and the sales on, you may be able to get coordinating valances too in your budget. I would think about getting sheers instead of a valance though which could soften the look a lot. A picture of the window(s) would be helpful as would a picture of the headboard....See MoreHelp Wanted: bedding, chair, general questions
Comments (4)Since the curtains are patterned I would do either a plain quilt/coverlet with maybe just a coordinated color banding or perhaps a small check or stripe. I’d use the existing parson’s chair for the desk—it can do double duty—recovering/slipcovering if necessary. If the wall color doesn’t work with the new desk, I’d go with a light cream or gray. Love the secretary!...See MoreRelated Professionals
