Can I put a kitchen sink in the bathroom?

We are renovating a small bathroom / laundry room. I'd love to have a nice big, deep sink (maybe Kohler Iron Tones) where the little bathroom sink used to be. Is this possible?

With money and time, all things are possible.

I'm not really understanding the possible limitation: You may have to lower the drain to accommodate the deeper sink... but I don't see that as being a big deal.

Not sure if you're placing at sink or tub, but I can tell you it doesn't work as a tub filler. Previous owner did that in our house and it takes FOREVER to fill the tub. When we get a new tub, we'll get a roman faucet set with separate spray (because it's great to have a spray in the tub). For a sink, I'd take lazypup's advice. I think there are plenty of lav faucets with high arcs/reaches....

My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in.

It's not deep enough from front to back. Vanities are 21'' while kitcen cabinets are 24''. While you could place blocking at the rear to bring it forward, that wouldn't do anything for the box's ability to house a standard 22'' deep kitchen sink. You would need to add in all kinds of aditional support to be able to cut the back enough to fit in the sink and be able to reach the plumbing and still support a heavy sink full of water. A 2x4 frame ought to be able to do that, but it depends on the skill of the carpenter and what he'd charge you to completely remake the base. In most cases, he's right. The labor charge to do that would be more than just ordering the correct cabinet.

Here ia a link to the specs on the faucet you have chosen: https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/content/Pfister/ss-lg26-xnxx Based on these specs, plumbing-wise there is no reason that this wouldn't work, however In addition to the issues that have been raised so far (see Sammy's comment above), this faucet is very tall and will probably look out of scale. It may also be in the way for tasks like washing one's face. If you like the faucet suggested by Sammy- go with that!

I was told by a salesperson at the store that the waste drain in a kitchen is a different size pipe. Right now there is just a hole with no pipework done yet, but having to replace the waste line sounds expensive. So I'm wondering if the salesperson was wrong. (I hope!)

The trap in a bathroom sink is often 1.25" while the trap for a kitchen sink is 1.5". However, both traps then connect to a standard 1.5" drain pipe.

You will have to replace the trap (you would be anyway...) but that is cheap. You might have to lower the point where the trap connects (which shouldn't be terrible, but will add a little cost to it.).
