Comments (5)Good here we go. To program the keypad, first unplug the garage door opener from the electrical outlet. Flip the operate/program switch to program. Next, enter your desired four digit PIN number into the keypad. Slide the switch back to operate and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad should be programmed....See MoreFront entry door - Craftsman dentil shelf?
Comments (1)I think, given the era of your house, that you could use a Craftsman door if you want one. In fact, while I'm a huge fan of preservation and restoration rather than remodeling, I think you should feel free to do whatever you want to if it's reversible. Tearing out a wall to make a "great room?" Bad idea. Replacing your front door with something that a purist might not approve of? Go for it. Doors are easy. It's your home; do what pleases you and doesn't change the fundamental nature of the house....See MoreFront Door Entry help!!!
Comments (12)The only windows on the house that can have shutters are the 2 on the left side tha are narorow enogh for shutters, shutters are not meant to be on multi windows and IMO that house looks much better without them. Do the same trim on all the windows. At some time it would be good to remove the stone IMO never good to mix brick and stone and stone needs to be where it would have been for the actual structure not just put somewhere for who knows what....See MoreSuggestion for updating entry / front door
Comments (11)Regarding the shutters - it's not the color of the shutters - it's that the windows are too wide. Shutters are supposed to look functional even if they aren't functional. They are supposed to look like they can cover the window on which they are placed. They never go on bay windows or triple windows unless they are Bahama type shutters which would be inappropriate for your area and inappropriate for your house. Please read this short article on shutters: https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/ As to the front door, that oval window is what makes it a Victorian style door. Your house isn't Victorian and would look so much better with an MCM type door or a solid door. The reason others are suggesting a light color for your door is that a brown door creates the "black hole" effect on the face of your house. It's hard to visualize if you are accustomed to seeing the brown, brown, brown that you currently show. There are other neutral, but lighter paints so your front door becomes visible. I agree that the landscaping you have now buries the house and doesn't bring out it's features. I hope you end up with a good landscape plan. Reach out to the landscape forum here too.
