FRONT DOOR ENTRY HELP
Comments (17)Your entrance has great bones and I love the stone work. Take away the tiny rug and if you want a rug it should be of a much more substantial size, rectangular. The pots on either side need to go, they are too small and neutral. If you want to have pots they should be much larger, dark cast iron. such a low light area means plants don't belong there so fill with dried element s if you like that look. Maybe lighting needs to be improved by installing pot lights that would illuminate the area beautifully. A brighter paint on the front door night also help spruce up the area and bring focus to the home entrance....See MoreFront door entry design help
Comments (7)I agree - lower R front corner will give you a wall on the R that you can arrange "foyer" type furniture on (hall tree, breakfront, narrow table with mirror above). Furniture can group around fireplace more easily then, and the area on the R side of the living room becomes a traffic area leading into the house, to the stairs & back of the house. That's the way the traffic wants to flow anyway - don't break up the living space by having the door centered and traffic flowing right into the center of the room. By moving the door to the R, you'll also have a bigger front porch area at the left end for chairs etc. Widen the front porch gable so that the front steps are centered on the new front door location. Another idea is to delete the R side of the porch that wraps the corner - it looks as if it isn't covered and seems like an odd & awkward space to me....See MoreHelp with front door entryway (narrow shoe storage) + dining area
Comments (5)Find a work person who can make a simple storage/window bench for you exactly to your specs. Consider shelves underneath the bench like this one, which has two levels of shelving. Or a lidded hinged bench. You might be able to spec a bench that aligns with outdoor chaise cushions, so you don't have to get an upholstered cushion made. Something with a drawer for each person with lovely cushion on top that coordinates with dining room. Drawers: Deep bench with baskets underneath for each person. Put a great indoor-outdoor rug in front of it to catch the outdoor grit. Etsy has many woodworkers who make benches on spec and ship them unassembled. This isn't from Etsy, but they do offer some styles like this. The trick is training the household to take shoes off on indoor-outdoor rug and walk shoes over to their bin/basket/drawer....See Morefront entry door paint color help
Comments (5)My gosh. Why didn't you order factory-finished doors? They would have looked better -- and the paint job would have lasted longer -- than anything you can do yourself....See Morechloebud
