I did that once! I grabbed the cayenne instead of the cinnamon for my popovers. Yikes. I caught just in time. One other time, I unscrewed the lid of the red pepper flakes instead of flipping the top. I shook a whack of flakes into the meal I was making. I obviously thought there was a sprinkler lid underneath the cap.

I once mistook chili oil for vanilla....

Been there too...just recently mistook almond extract for the vanilla into peanut butter cookies.....They were terrible.....

As it happens they turned out not so damn very strong - just enough to make the black coffee taste super. I rolled out the dough about 1/4 inch. Baked em a couple minutes less than for full size biskits so they are crisp more like cookies. 11 vs 13 min. Maybe 10'd be enough. They cool down crisp with a touch of sugar and cinnamon and no grease cept olive oil.

There's a 1/4 cup sugar distributed into 40 "cookies" which translates to 0.3t per cookie. But then if you eat 20..............

1t cinnamon or cayenne yields 0.025t /cooky. Either spice it doesn't take much.

What are biskits? Are they cookies (Br.) or biscuits ( similar to scones)? If they are biscuits, I would use cayenne but not cinnamon, and if they are cookies, I would more likely use cinnamon, but either is acceptable, and some cookies have both. I have to guess that they are something in between, like animal crackers. I think cinnamon is considered a "hot" spice, like ginger, and cayenne can be used to enhance cinnamon. Ginger snaps often have cayenne.

That's funny. I have cumin and cinnamon in the exact same container so I keep them in separate cupboards. Today, my daughter put the cinnamon with the spices, side by side with the cumin. LOL, I'm crazy so I asked everyone who did it and gave the - cinnamon goes with the baking. I'm sure there was an eyeroll but cinnamon goes with the baking.

I would use cayenne in those but not cinnamon. Did you add cinnamon by mistake? But for that matter, I would prefer cayenne in popovers as well. Are they savory or sweet(?) - they look savory. I generally use cinnamon with something that is sweet, such as oatmeal (which is not baked), but I use cayenne in both savory and sweet dishes. Cayenne (in small amounts) is known to intensify chocolate flavor.

1st batch used
cayenne by mistake – didn’t know it.

2nd batch
increased the cayenne- discovered mistake – added equal cinnamon, more sugar.

The subtleties of
flavor control don’t loom large on my horizon.

When I screw up
adding sugar usually fixes it.
