Help! I think I overwatered my jade plant :( (Pics)
Comments (16)Remove the bottom few leaves of each cutting so that you can insert the stems without having any of the leaves touch the soil...or another plant. I've never waited for a succulent cutting to callus over...so get them into a coarse medium pronto. Water them well initially....See MoreI did something right - I think...
Comments (6)Greenfingernail, There are quite a few Cattleya growers here, so I'm hoping they will jump in with some specific advice for you. The reason I do not grow Cattleyas is that, as a windowsill grower with only half days of direct sun, I can't give them the light they require. From what you have said, it sounds like your north exposure and the dinette table situation (shaded window light and competition from other plants) cannot possibly provide the amount of light that Cattleyas are supposed to need. Attached is a live link to the American Orchid Society's culture sheet for Cattleya orchids. I hope it will help you to figure out how to help your plants. I don't know whether sphag & bag works well with Catts, but if your plant has growing roots and is green, I surely wouldn't count it out yet. Below, are URLs for sites where you can determine your Zone to add (if you like) to your personal information on GardenWeb. It is a bit easier for people to help if they have some idea of your growing area/environment. Comments (10)I made my first slip today, but it wasn't my fault. I have seen Piilu at 4 different nurseries this year. I said no every time even though it was the only one that I saw that I wanted. Today I went to CVS pharmacy to get something, and guess what? They were selling plants there. And guess what else? That's right they had clematis and on a lower shelf there was a flat of Piilu! I took it as a sign that I was meant to buy it. Across the street from CVS was a hardware store that sells plants every year, which is actually one of the better places to buy plants in the area. Guess what they had there? Vino! It was a Donahue's baby that was now very well rooted. I had to get it....See MoreThink I might have done a bad thing to my rose....
Comments (10)I've actually had it for about 3 or 4 years now. The person who gave it to me had it in her garden for maybe, 5-8 years so it is a mature plant. I have some alfalfa but will take a wait and see approach to it right now. It is front and center in my garden, and it pains me to see it struggling so.... Thank you for the link. Edit: Just read it, funny!! Whenever I do something right in the garden it is accidentally. I'm glad to hear even experienced gardens make big mistakes. I have the maxsea rose formula ( the label has worn off so I don't know the details) and the all purpose 16-16-16. Which one should I use when I fertilize?...See MoreBridget
