I'd love a cutting! Right now we've finally got one pair of flowers opening up, and a total of seven more buds in various stages of emerging. I'm not entirely convinced the woman is correct that the flowers will be red, but there is a blush developing on the petals, so perhaps. I've never had one before, so I have no clue at what point color develops. I don't care at this point, I'm just glad to have flowers! In spite of the close-up view, it's difficult to see detail with those tiny images. Any way, it appears to be an abiotic problem. Perhaps too close to the lights/ballast? Why isn't it outdoors while temps are still reasonable?

OK. Well, now you should just wait. Do not water the bulb after the initial watering in fact I may not have watered it at all and just let it sit on top of the soil for some (a few weeks) time so you could easily lift it up to check on whether or not you had dried it properly and look for the possibility of rot which can certainly happen at this point. I do that often with bulbs that I have either trimmed the basal plate or had cut some tissue due to a rot issue and want to be sure that it had dried properly. Later, you can just add an inch or two of soil on top and once again your bulb will be buried. I see that you bud tip has turned reddish green, probably just the variety (Charisma buds have a red cast to them if I'm not mistaken) and nothing to worry about. Make sure the soil is not constantly wet. At this point dry is much better than wet. Good luck and check back when the bud starts to elongate which is most likely all that the bulb will do initially... bloom first and then think about roots and leaves. Donna☺☺

It turns out even transparent roofs shades a lot of sunlight, Tracy. Before I installed the panels on my pergola I had to double the bug screen where I have my semi-dormant winter growers. After the roof installation I then had to remove the extra screen. Gladys' hoop house looks like it has double-wall polys so while it is bright, that's still a lot less harsh than direct sun. I should've warned you, sorry. Every time I get plants from Arid Lands I email them back to find out if they have been in a hoop house or under direct Arizona sun. Pagan
