I can't keep my brugs anymore - who can I give them to?
Comments (18)sorry I haven't had a chance to reply to everyone! I haven't forgotten this thread though :P I might have a temporary place for most of my bigger brugs, but the smaller ones still have to go simply because there are too many, and I'll still have a crap ton of cuttings. I'll refer back to this page when it comes time in a few weeks to cut. in the meantime, would anyone be interested in well rooted NOIDs? they're all two to three feet tall. I have one that was given to me as a double white, two pink ones, and one or two that I'm not sure of. shipping's going to be kind of ugly on them, but they're well rooted healthy plants with a good start already. I'll try to remember to check this page frequently :)...See MoreNeighbors- Can't pick 'em like weeds, but the grow like them
Comments (18)Well, for goodness sake! Some folks have nerve don't they? I'm so glad I live in the country with no really close neighbors. I have 3 acres so that kind of puts a good distance between me and my nearest. There are lots of folks that live down the road from me who pass by everyday. Some stop to comment on my gardens, but they are always nice comments. Some probably think I'm crazy cause I'm out there from daylight till dark and sometimes even later if we're having dry weather and everything needs a drink. :) And during bloom season, I'm always running around with my camera and a notebook snapping photos of everything. There's no telling what folks think, but you know what, who cares what others think. Like others said, just keep doing what you love as I do, and let folks have their opinions. If gardening makes you happy as it does me, then don't let critics wilt your blooms!!! :) Hope you get lots of pretty blooms and the neighbor turns green with envy! Comments (20)Hi Zep, I went ahead and upgraded to mp10 for my system. It seems nice so I'll go with it thanks. Unfortunately I still can't get the songs onto my pos mp3 player, there must be something wrong with it is all I can figure. I am able to rip songs from my cd's fine but the whole transfering them thing just isn't working. I am going to try the mp3 player in another computer at work tomorrow and I'll go from there. Remember we've had this thing for a few years just sitting in a closet with how to speak german on it so its no big loss. I'll go get another simple yet fairly inexpensive model at w-mart to learn on. I'm not giving up on this because I'm tired of listening to the boring elevator music the local station plays here in the middle of nowhere. Thanks, Neal...See MoreI can't save them all..can I?
Comments (20)Sounds as though there are lots of animal lovers in your new neighborhood, but not a lot of animal caretakers. Some people just don't know what they don't know. THey know they want the cute and fuzzy, but not that they grow up and might need work! So, it sounds like you have an opportunity here! You can be an example for your neighbors as to how to care for an animal at the very least. You can also take it one step further and maybe provide free literature on vet clinics and low cost spay and neuter to your neighbors. If you don't have those services available locally, you can work to make those services available by joining a rescue group and working with other like minded folks. What I'm trying to say is what some other posters have said: there is POWER in numbers. Join a group. Found a group. Get the local kids involved in educational efforts and maybe they won't grow up to be their parents! You feel overwhelmed and a little alone now, but if you make contacts with other like minded folks, your effectiveness as an agent of change multplies! One person can't save them all....but a dozen people can save a neighborhood. It's like the old shampoo commercial. You tell two friends, and they tell two friends, and they tell two friends..... and the next thing you know, your county is actually opening an animal shelter where none existed before and the deputies just shot stray dogs (true story!)....See MoreMDLN
