Thank you all. I wanted to post a little more on my frustration. It feels like paint colors never turn out for me. Proof below - trim being white dove, walls being dove wing - neither look anything like their swatches.... (and I did sample, just didn’t work out for me regardless). And yes - agree it’s all very dull. The furniture is all about 8 years old and I puttered out in decision making in trying to buy new stuff after we finished the reno (added pocket doors and windows in either side of fireplace, and bookshelves in the office on the opposite wall). So I’m open to suggestions and color is a great one, thank you!

Thank you jck910 and Patricia Colwell Consulting. Both your posts are very helpful. The dining area's floor is the same tile as the kitchen. Only the foyer (small) has hardwood, it was there when we bought the house in 2012, it is blond/yellow. Than you for your advice, I agree that I will need to refinish it and change the color to the color of the new hardwood I choose for the living. I appreciate the emphasis you make on making them both the same color. Thank you jck910 for the idea of using Edgecomb Gray, it looks like a great piece of advice for my space!
