Where do you store non-perishable produce?
Comments (16)It's not pretty but I use a small high-sided rectangular Rubbermaid tote (without the lid) in my corner cabinet to store potatoes, sweet potatoes and squash; I keep onions in one end too. I've never had any problem with them going bad as they get used quite quickly. I have a terra cotta garlic keeper (the kind with the vented holes) next to it. Tomatoes go in my 2-tiered decorative fruit holder that I keep on the counter. Grape tomatoes nestle in their original container next to it--or on it depending on how full it is. The fruit container is metal and I found crystal-looking glass plates that perfectly fit both tiers so that if something goes mushy/liquidy it stays on the plate and doesn't migrate downward (I know--ewwww) :)...See MoreWhere do you buy your dog food?
Comments (21)Two of our pets are on special diets for urinary tract issues, so we get their food from our vet. Our local pet supply store (Centinela) gives 10% off on Tuesdays if you are 55 or over. They have a good selection and monthly coupons, so I get the rest of the food there. You might look to see if there is something similar in your area. Petsmart and Petco aren't bad either, and often have coupons and discounts if you get their keychain card....See MoreHow do you store your dog food?
Comments (26)Golddust and Groominggal (thanks for the suggestions), I think they do make storage cubes. And putting the wheels on would be easy. The tricky part would be the food-safe liner. And I would like that liner to have a handle for easy lift-out for pouring into bowls, and getting the last drop of old before adding new. Jeannine, you're lucky you have that much free shelf room. The little bags are a lot easier to handle! Allison, thanks for the link. That's probably what I should use in my garage if I'm to keep on getting the big bags, at least. That's a great price! Maybe with the smaller bags I could find a way to have only one location... in my kitchen... but I'm going to have to carry those bags up the stairs. Desertsteph, I love corner cabs, they are so cute! I hope you can work something out. Pupwhipped, those are deffinitely cute for a garage or pantry. I wish they would tell how many lbs. of dog food each size would hold....See MoreWhere do you store dog food?
Comments (26)Heh, I wish we had a dog's room! :) We have the same kind of container chemocurl linked (also not that one, but a shorter fatter variety) right now but I'm trying to figure out a better solution since that doesn't really fit in the space we have now. Plan A was to repurpose our old Simple Human trash can (since now we have a pullout trash) but I'm not sure that's air tight enough. Bonus is that we already have it, though. If you want to spend crazy amounts, SimpleHuman also makes an actual pet food can which looks pretty wonderful---the cup hides in the lid, it has an air-tight lock, and it comes in multiple sizes holding up to 40 pounds of food. But...it also costs $100+. *Sigh*...See More
