Where do you store non-perishable produce?

Just wondering where you store things like potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. Right now I have a really ugly little free-standing cabinet that has bins for onions & potatoes (plus another one that we don't use).

I keep my tomatoes in a bowl on the counter -- or in the little plastic container they came in for grape tomatoes. Fruit goes in a bowl on the counter, and garlic lives in a little basket on the counter. Occasionally I'll have something big like a spaghetti squash and once again, it's on the countertop.

Not sure what kind of storage to plan for the onions, potatoes , etc. What works for you?
