Our bedroom has 2 windows, one on the north and one on the west. Bedroom 2 has two also, one on the north and one on the east. Bedroom 3 only has one.

I have 8; it's almost all windows. 3 east, 2 south, 3 west. No window coverings, on the second floor, in the woods, so it's like a tree house. Four are large casement windows, with one picture window between each pair. The two on the south are picture windows with a smaller awning window at the top and 3 are higher on the wall (where I have my headboard) and are awning style.

eta: I missed your question about whether to add a window or not. I can't see any downsides...more light, more air circulation, another view outside.

Two windows in my current master bedroom, one north, one east (built before the hideous quicko-build money-saving "fashion" for side walls to have no windows). Two windows in my future bedroom. One south, one west. I'll have external LIGHT in my new home!

North and east never let in that much light as the eastern direction here faces directly into a hill.

I will make sure that my future west-facing window has light-blocking (heat blocking) drapes. Oh, the new home will have an additional south facing door from the master bedroom to the deck. With half frame window lights. So that makes three?

Basically, if you can have windows on more than one wall ... do it. Light AND cross-ventilation. Not putting the window in, where you can, simply looks Builder Grade to me.

Five. Two about 36" wide (west), king brd centerd between them, the other three in a row (north), so about 110". We added one of the west facing windows.

We have 3 large double hung windows on the west wall of our room and 2 smaller windows on the north side.

Second the recommendation to add the windows. We love the cross-ventilation that having windows on two walls gives us.

Two on the east wall, spaced wide enough for a king size bed to fit between, one large on the north wall for the view, and, in the master bath, a window on the west wall opposite one of the windows on the east wall that allows for cross ventilation.

Have windows on 3 sides, wish they were on all 4. Love the light and cross ventilation.

One window, east side

We have either 3 or 5 depending on how you count them. One on each side of a fireplace and a bay window area (3 windows) on the adjacent wall.

Three. One is on north wall, other two on west wall. A BR needs a minimum or two windows.

2. A horizontal slider on the north, also where the bed's headboard is and 1 vertical window on the east wall. I love having the bed under the north window. Late fall thru early spring it's nice to sleep with the window open and the cool/cold air falling over you :) We're in NE Texas.

Three: two on south side, one on east.

Two, North and West. We live in the woods so sun in the windows is never an issue. I am not sure this is giving you what you need. Room size and doorways play into furniture placement as much as windows.

Master Bedroom: 2 windows on north wall. King bed centered between the two.

Bedroom 1: 1 window on east wall.

Bedroom 2: 1 window on east wall.

And what could be a fourth bedroom has a two windows together on west wall and one glass patio door on north wall.

Only one, but it's a slider, so it lets in a lot of light. East side, my favorite light of all.

I live in "the house of slider door". We have two sets of sliders, one on west wall overlooking a flower garden and one on north wall overlooking the pool and patio.

I have 3 windows, one on the east wall and 2 that are together on the south wall. When we built our house, our goal was for as many room as possible to have windows on 2 sides because I love natural light and have a large lot. However, if I were the type who kept the shades closed most of the time or if the window just gave me a view of the neighbors stucco, I would not have added more windows.

In our bedroom proper -- we have one window on each side of the fireplace, but . . . my dressing room opens off of the bedroom and we have a window there and the sunroom opens off of the master as well and it has 8 windows. But it's on the east side and so is bright but not overly so with all of those windows!

I have four windows in all the bedrooms. Two one each wall. I love it. I also have blackout shades that this lets me sleep but just reading in the room, I have the window shades open.

In our master there are two on the north wall, our bed is centered. Master bath has a large picture window on the east and one small window on the north wall (this was a kitchen window mistake that we turned sideways, it was much too small for the kitchen). I too love opening our windows during the fall and spring to let in the cool night air in the south!

The most beautiful windows we have are all on the south side with a wrap around porch, they are all matching antique stained glass, home office, dining room, and two of the bedrooms. Very unique.

I use to have three, two on south wall, one on east. We added an addition above a sunroom on the east side so lost that window for the ensuite door but we have three larger windows in the bath addition and love the natural light skin n that room but now have better sleeping in conditions in the bedroom as well.

We have 3 tall windows on West wall parallel to bed; one regular size on the East wall parallel to bed; and 3 fixed 36" square windows high on South bed wall above the bed. This room is on the end of the house, and all 3 window walls with a view out to forest, pond and pastures; the 4th wall is the entrance pocket door/ dresser/bench wall across from the end of the bed. We also have very tall ceilings in the room and it feels very open and spacious.

Two walls of windows and one wall with double doors. Ours is a bedroom with a small adjacent sitting area open to the bedroom, so it's not three walls of the bedroom with windows and doors. We love it.

Five. Four flanking the fpl, one in an alcove. In addition, I can see into my bathroom, which has a windowed tub alcove because on my bathroom I have glass french door.

ETA - There are downsides to windows, but most of us want as many as possible, although

1. They impact heating and cooling

2, You need to know furniture placement before you lay them out, and then you have less flexibility going fwd too.

3. Most people want them covered for privacy or warmth or to adjust lighting. That is a cost

4 Some windows that look interesting are very hard to decorate around and or cover

One large window on the east - three casement sections, two open. This is the side of the house with the nice view. No windows that open in the adjacent bathroom though we have transom windows above the vanity and one in the walk in closet. No airflow but nice for the natural light.

At our other house we have four double hung windows and a door. Two are on the west side (lakeside of that house) and the single door to the deck is in the middle. The other two windows are on the north side. The adjacent master bath has three double hung windows - one on the north and two on the east.

You do really have to carefully think through furniture placement if you have a lot of windows and doorways.

A French door leading out to the back yard which overlooks the hills and one over the bed. I'm not a fan of having only one window in any room that you spend a lot of time in; it feels very closed in to me. Light coming from two directions seems much friendlier and warmer.
