Please show me your oriental rugs in your bedroom
Comments (8)This thread is so timely, Bonnie Ann, as I'm in the process of redoing our MBR right now. Our bedside rugs are in dire need of replacement. So is our comforter and shams, but they're next. I have brick floors and Middle Eastern rugs throughout our entire house. And under-the-floor hot water radiant heat. And two dogs. I'm vacuuming the rugs constantly, but it is what it is, as I love my dogs. I've had Oriental rugs on either side of our bed in the past, but the dogs were hard on them and I replaced them with 2.5' x 4" needlepoint runners about 5 years ago. I actually wash them in my washer on delicate, which probably has added to their demise (LOL). Between the dogs, having patios that we use a lot on two sides of our bedroom, and the fact that we live in the mountains and probably track in more dirt than most people in other places do, our current bedroom rugs are pretty well trashed by now. So, I've been looking at the pics here trying to decide where to go next. We have beautiful queen-size bed, but it seems like such a costly waste to buy such a large rug, only to cover up most of it with our bed. And after a variety of rugs over the years in our MBR, I like the idea of being able to wash them, something not easily done with Orientals, although they are so beautiful. But, thanks to this timely thread, I've finally decided on rugs to buy. I found really soft indoor (that can also be outdoor ) 2.5' x 4' runners on Wayfair, in a muted tan and cream print. They've gotten lots of great reviews because they are soft and pet-friendly. And so, I've just now ordered two of them, and they should get here a week from today. Don't you just love this site and all the ideas you get here? Thanks, Bonnie Ann!...See MoreDo you have a phone in your bedroom
Comments (64)"Have you known anyone whose house was broken into during the night?" YES! My SIL was burglarized twice, while she was in bed. Once shortly after she retired for the night, the other time in the wee hours of the morning. And she lives in a residential section that is considered very 'safe'. She says she did the only thing she knew to do, and just stayed very very still, pretending to be soundly asleep. And the police told her that was a wise decision on her part. Don't think I could have done that! Yes I have a phone with me at all times. My smart phone is clipped to my jeans' pocket or belt at all times during the day, and on my night stand at night. Before I had a cell phone, the land line was on my night stand. Back then it was because my husband was a trucker so I kept the phone close in case he needed to contact me about anything. Also in case one of the kids or grandkids needed me. Husband is deceased and kids and grandkids are grown, but I still keep it close for the same reasons. Also because my kids (and Grands) want me to for their peace of mind. They know my balance is very bad, along with other health issues. I really do feel much safer with a phone within arms reach. Comments (16)I keep all my makeup in a caddy in the master bathroom but carry it, with a magnification mirror, to a bedroom window that gets natural light. That way I don't wind up with a clown face when I go outdoors! (The master bath doesn't have a window, and I didn't want to get one of those makeup mirrors that change to natural light since I have a wall of bedroom windows with all the natural light I want.) It's an excellent system....See MoreNeed Advice on Bedroom Area Rug & Window Coverings
Comments (12)thank you! I hadn't considered gray for the rug. I know it's neutral but wasn't sure about adding another prominent color. I had been looking at blue (navy) or red, but wasn't sure if I could pull off a geometric or striped pattern with the stripes on the one wall and the busy coverlet pattern.
