If it's on the 2nd floor it may be loose in the back causing you to have dust bunnies, Be sure the clamp is tight(tightens with screwdriver probably) Also if you can't get under it use a yard stick to go under it& get the dust out from under. Mine is gas & I have it in garage so once a yr. I shut gas off unplug & pull out & vacuum over it & floor & take the vent off & loosen screws on back and wipe out everywhere I can reach & take a long handled brush that is dampened with water to retrieve any dust I can't reach. I've heard a tbls. of dust is enough to start a fire. Most important is not to have it piled high & surrounded with junk or clothes. They would be a real hazard as heat could build up. Otherwise go find where vent goes out of house & see if it can be disconnected & shook out or cleaned out.

Update: I had the repair men here twice last week. First they changed the High Limit Thermostat but that turned off in 5 minutes. They kept the bottom metal piece off the dryer to watch what was happening. They then came back and installed the Thermistor they mentioned they needed when they were here the day before. On the invoice they claimed they installed gas coils but I did not see them do this so I hope they are telling the truth. I was happy that they did listen to me and they did go up in my attic and attach two broom stick handles with duct tape and push out more heavy damp lint that was clogging the vent to the dryer vent that goes from the laundry room wall straight up many feet high in the attic before turning to go perpendicular all the way across the other side of the attic that covers many feet before turning to vent out the back of the townhouse up on the roof. The fee was $309.23 but at least my Whirlpool Duet Dryer is finally drying and it amazes me that some loads are dry in 45 minutes and some in 65 minutes instead of 2.5 hours (took 2.5 hours to dry one heavy beach towel and 8 hours to dry a load of towels and 5 hours to dry a load of regular clothes and 2.25 hours to dry one light weight bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth) to 8 hours! The 4 sheets I washed and dried last night came out so hot it amazed me. I have not tried anything but the extra high setting so far and I may try the sensor drying that never worked for me. I don't think my dryer ever worked this great before even when it was new 5.25 years old. Four years ago, I did have my dryer vent professionally cleaned but they never went in the attic. My two male friends helped me clean the lint out of the dryer and to the wall and up the wall and in the attic taking apart the vents. My friend John claimed the vent was clear which is the vent that would not come apart that goes straight up the floor before turning. He used a snake on both sides to unclog it but maybe there was a clog in the middle of it? My townhouse will be 21 year old in another month and I have lived here for 12.5 years. I always cleaned the filter but never knew there was a dryer vent in the attic.

Understandable armjim. I'm sure you were sick at the thought of what he's pulling out--and you haven't even been in your home too long. You'll likely have this vent person on a regular schedule to come out and clean out the vent and dryer. I'd lean towards twice a year myself to be on the safe side. I just had to rake (again) the lint pile up outside my vent (and I don't have a SQ dryer-just washer-- I think that's where the issue stems from). omg, the lint. Gobs of it. I think I said upthread I've never had such a lint debris issue in all my years...it's one of those you have see it to believe kind of things. Best of luck to you keeping on top of this. The load shouldn't be "really hot when done" being that all cycles end with a cool down period. I advise to check for obstructions in the exhaust ducting. The entire length of it from the wall connection to the exterior exit at the end. Long dry times and excess heat remaining at the end are indications of an airflow problem. Has the bunching-up situation always been a problem or is it a recent occurrence? Is the problem happening on all loads or is it related to specific kinds of clothing or loads? The belt wraps around the drum, there's an idler / tensioner assembly that maintains proper grip on the drum and motor pulley. You didn't cite the specific model number of the dryer. Bravos XL is a marketing label. Some models may have a belt-driven blower (separate belt from the drum), others may have the blower wheel mounted directly to the motor.
