It's our Maytag Dryer that shreds our clothing. It shreds Everything. No matter how much clothes or how little clothes I put into that dryer- as it tumbles everything moves up to the front of the dryer (closer to the door) then the force of the tumble throws the clothes against the holes in the top of the lint catch (which aren't sharp in any way, the plastic is perfectly smooth) but the force of the tumble causes the clothes to get caught in them and then ripped away causing it to shred. Not only is the dryer a horrible, clothes shredding, money eater but the washer literally eats our clothes. Anything as big or smaller than a wool adult sock (which are rather quite large) also gets moved to the front of the washer where there's a rather large gap between the barrel of the washer and the door where things easily slip down then go down the drain and get caught in the catch clogging it. Anything that gets sucked down the drain then quickly is ruined by all the rest of the crap trying to go down the drain. We live in a tight apartment so trying to pull out a stacked dryer/washer in a small closet doorway is a nightmare so we bought mesh bags hoping to help but sadly the mesh bags come open regularly as they're being thrown around by the washer no matter what brand we've tried. They help somewhat but we're still pulling out the washer/dryer a couple times a month to fix it. Now that we have face masks we have to wash regularly the nightmare of this Maytag washer/dryer combo is at an all time high. I will never trust Maytag again and until we get enough money to replace these nightmare causing machines we're stuck with them.

i am debating between the SpeedQueen 412 and the Bravo and the Cabrio. The SQ is American made and the best made of the 3 (no electronics, metal parts, etc. But I am worried that it might not be as gentle on the clothes. A store told me the newest Cabrios are better than the older ones but the Bravo has a much better warranty. (He is not anywhere near where I live- so cna't sell to me, so was being totally honest = he does not even sell the Bravo. Told me people in his town are not willing to pay the price for better washers, so he stocks few of them. I am a retired school teacher so don't have a lot of money, but want something that is gentle on my clothes and made to last. It might be that the two are not made in one machine. I love the made in the USA of SQ but worried about gentleness on my clothes. Can anyone help? I have not seen a Bravo in a store so don't know about price. either.

Unfortunately we purchased this piece of junk, the Bravos XL to the tune of nearly a thousand dollars, thinking "heavy duty commercial" would bring a decent machine to last mare than a year or so. Should I suppose have gone with a Samsung. within a year or so we got the dreaded "LF". It happens at least once during a minimum of half the washes we do, on all settings....hot cold, "power wash", delicate, bedding, etc. etc. Beside the fact that every was seems to take a half day to finish, and the "LF" error, its been a wonderful experience. After about a year and a half of reshifting loads, trying to put the heavy at the top, then the bottom, without success, I just resigned myself to the fact the machine is and always will be a piece of crap; One day, when I was in the appliance dept at Home Depot, where I purchased it with a ten year extended "warranty", fresh from a bout of fighting the machine, I walked into the appliance department where we purchased it. What followed was what can only be described as a comedy of errors. First of all the saleswoman interrogated me as to why I had waited so long (apparently she has no concept of "we actually have a life outside of the laundry room"), she reluctantly looked up our transaction only to tell us she could find no record of our purchase, of the machine or the supposed "warranty". After informing me that a customer had just been in and told her that this was the best machine he'd ever had, I became adamant that I wanted SOME kind of answer. She didn't understand why it would upset me to find that home depot, which has a computer system to rival the pentagon, would have no record of my purchases less than two years prior. She proceeded to call HD "service", where she got busy signal after busy signal. Until reading the prior discussion, I had been seriously considering going back to HD and buying the biggest sledge hammer they sell and beating this pile of sheet metal into nothingness.... but now that I realize someone has the answer I'll contact HD and exercise my non existent 10 year "warranty" until these incompetents fix it.

Thanks for the tips. Still looking for more. I have not tried reducing my spin speed yet. I will try that today. One selling point the salesman used to get me to buy the more expensive B850 machine was the faster spin speed. LOL I am also wondering if a particular washer setting will be less wrinkly. I won't use fabric softners or dryer sheets. They are not healthy per the kid's doctors. Boy all this work. With my old machine, I stuffed the clothes down in the washer. When I took them out I grabbed a big bunch and just threw them in the dryer. Maytag spoiled me all those years and now they can't compete with their own product. Now I have to load each item individually in both the washer and dryer and even shake them when putting them in the dryer. That helps a little with the thin clothes (still not completely wrinkle free but close enough), but not the thick clothes like pants and jeans. Those are still coming out very wrinkled.
