Update on my window problem
Comments (7)This is actually and epoxy which has been used in the conservation trade for years....at least that's one of the products that is available and I think this is just one of them. In the museum biz they used it when it was important to save as much of the original wood/material as possible. It can be sanded and painted. Kind of like a super wood putty. It is important to 1. get all the rotted wood out and 2. solve the problem which caused the rot in the first place. Wood, when exposed to the conditions which CAUSED the problem (i.e. moisture) will continue to rot. Now, Kev are you thinking of selling the house? Because, I'd really think about replacement windows. I used to be anti-replacement windows until I came to the understanding that not all houses should be preserved in their original state...if that was the case, then I wouldn't have just stripped out the nasty dog-pee smelling carpet and put down laminate in the family room (hey, I know, I prefer wood too, but this was the main entrance from the swimming pool after you go through the sunroom and dog did a number on the wood with her claws at the other house, so I thought this was the better way to go and I got a lovely handscraped hickory finish by Tarkett which actually has grainlines which RESEMBLE the print on the laminate, something which always bugged me!) and I put in granite instead of the nasty nasty formica that was here........See MoreI have a problem with todays Windows Update
Comments (2)Just wanted you to know that the problem is solved. I called Microsoft and the guy downloaded Windows XPSP3 and then had the updates come in. Once both of them updated the yellow shield disappeared. Everything seems to be running normal now. He thought the reason it started acting up was because I had not put SP3 in. I guess he was right because it is all working normally now. thirdfrt!!!...See MoreAnyone else have a problem with Windows update?
Comments (8)I had two updates, on two separate days below ;;;; One did seem to leave me black screen for a bit longer than normal.. but then painted the desk just fine. But I dont think it was a full five minute pause. I usually watch how the hard drive light blinks and can guess that it its working. Look in control pane.. and window updates, history.. see if these two show success.? Comments (5)You need to be sure you want it. I did a lot of research since I bought my windows 8 computer. I did not like what I read and on top of that it can not be removed from some computers if you don't like it. I do not like what I read and I am sticking to classic shell because I don't see a thing wrong with it. This post was edited by EmmaR on Fri, Oct 18, 13 at 19:03...See More- 8 years ago
