Update on my window problem
Comments (7)This is actually and epoxy which has been used in the conservation trade for years....at least that's one of the products that is available and I think this is just one of them. In the museum biz they used it when it was important to save as much of the original wood/material as possible. It can be sanded and painted. Kind of like a super wood putty. It is important to 1. get all the rotted wood out and 2. solve the problem which caused the rot in the first place. Wood, when exposed to the conditions which CAUSED the problem (i.e. moisture) will continue to rot. Now, Kev are you thinking of selling the house? Because, I'd really think about replacement windows. I used to be anti-replacement windows until I came to the understanding that not all houses should be preserved in their original state...if that was the case, then I wouldn't have just stripped out the nasty dog-pee smelling carpet and put down laminate in the family room (hey, I know, I prefer wood too, but this was the main entrance from the swimming pool after you go through the sunroom and dog did a number on the wood with her claws at the other house, so I thought this was the better way to go and I got a lovely handscraped hickory finish by Tarkett which actually has grainlines which RESEMBLE the print on the laminate, something which always bugged me!) and I put in granite instead of the nasty nasty formica that was here........See MoreI have a problem with todays Windows Update
Comments (2)Just wanted you to know that the problem is solved. I called Microsoft and the guy downloaded Windows XPSP3 and then had the updates come in. Once both of them updated the yellow shield disappeared. Everything seems to be running normal now. He thought the reason it started acting up was because I had not put SP3 in. I guess he was right because it is all working normally now. thirdfrt!!!...See MoreProblem after Windows 7 Update
Comments (2)If you were working on the files prior to the update and had saved them as per normal, there shouldnt have been any file loss for just doing the update. Should that happen again which I have never experience, you could just do a system restore back a few hours to before you did the update. Comments (6)Hi Emma, Nice to meet you. "Smiles" I have read while doing my search on my problem with Windows Update that there were people who didn't want it automatically to run. This computer is still under warranty and they don't want me to make any changes to the updates. I had never had any problems with it until now. I understand that with some things, it is best to do it your way and that is just a preference on your part and I see nothing wrong with that. I went in and removed something last night that was running at startup and I felt it wasn't necessary, so I shut it off from the program itself. I never set it to automatically update it was like that when I bought the computer. I would have wanted that problem fixed anyway. With it being a problem I wasn't sure how it would have affected the update with it being set the other way. (not being set automatically). That was my thinking when I wanted it fixed. It's fixed now and I am very happy about it. Thank you for your input I really appreciate it. thirdfrt!!!...See Morezep516
