Hello EmmaR, 1. In Firefox, click Tools. 2. In Tools, click Options. 3. In Options, click Advanced. 4. In Advanced, click Update. 5. Under Update, click "Ask me what I want to do". 6. Click OK. That's it! If you ever want to change Firefox back to automatic updates, just do steps 1-4 and under Updates, click "Automatically download and install update" instead. That's the only set of instructions I know of. Joe

Your update function is corrupted. I had the exact same problem but with W/98. I can't find my notes on how I fixt it, sorry, but you might be able to type the sentence into google and get the fix. It may be on the MS site. I may have slicked off the HD and reinstalled W/98 to solve it. For sure I did something to refurbish the update function - maybe did something in the registry. Maybe removed and replaced something. It took some doing and wasn't easy. Well this isn't a whole lot of help but it should point in the right direction.
