Electrolux vs Fridgidaire Professional appliances
Comments (4)I got a frigidaire 27" double convection oven about 3 years ago. put it in and turned it on. been working fine ever since. Which is better than a lot of the $5000 ovens discussed on this board. Quality is a very missused word. If you get an appliance that looks good easy to install, works out of the box and keeps working, How can another brand be better quality?...See MoreFrigidaire CD Professional FD refrigerator - thoughts?
Comments (8)I have this exact model that you are considering. (Frigidaire Professional, not Gallery.) It is an excellent fridge for the money, I think. The LED light that comes on when the door opens is very nice. It runs very quietly. The finish is indeed fingerproof-resistant. If only they could figure out how to make it dirt- and gunk-resistant! It keeps food extremely fresh, much better than the terrible old fridge we used to have that finally died. We haven't used the icemaker much because we have had trouble hooking up the existing water line (a problem with the house, not the fridge, and it will be addressed soon during the reno.) I find that there is plenty of storage space both in the fridge and the freezer, and we are a family of four that cooks avidly and hoards bizarre ingredients. If I had to complain about something, there are tiny little things: the right hand door has a flap that sometimes moves while the door is open so if the left door closes first and the flap has moved then the right door will bang against the left and not close. Happens every once in a while and doesn't do any damage. Also, buy the extended warranty. During the first year we had a control circuit problem that took three service calls for the techs to figure out what was going on. They replaced the part and no problems since then. The other complaint I have is about AJ Madison's delivery (but that's not the fridge's fault!) I find that as with all fridges (apart from the super high-end ones) if you stick too much stuff in front of the vents for the cold air, you will freeze whatever is there. So you don't want to stick too much on the top shelf on the right. The shelves and door shelves are configurable, too. All in all, very happy with it. I paid around $1850 for it -AJ Madison matched Goedeker's. I'd be happy to take pictures of the inside for you if you are still interested!...See MoreGE Profile vs. Frigidaire Professional
Comments (3)I have fridigaire professional now (3 years old) for fridge, range, and OTR microwave. No problems at all. My parents bought the Galley series because of mine and have had nothing but problems. GE is a more expensive but doesnt seem any "better", whatever that means. The stove is against an interior wall and doesnt have any outdoor ventilation so i dont think a hood is possible. I was thinking about one of those drawer microwaves. A full kitchen renovation is 1-2 years away but new appliances will likely be this winter. I dont want to buy anything that i will regret when we go to do the kitchen...See MoreHelp! Double wall ovens vs. professional style range
Comments (13)Recently speed ovens and combi-steam ovens have become popular. A speed oven uses a combination of microwaves, convection, and halogen or radiant heat to cook stuff fast like a microwave but with better results. You can also use it as a microwave only or convection oven only. Combi-steam ovens cook with a combination of convection and steam. The steam can either come from a plumbed connection or from a tank you fill. Some of the things you can do include baking bread with moisture, low temperature roasting, steaming vegetables, excellent reheating, and again you can just use it as a convection oven. I recommend searching the forum as there have been many discussions about these types of ovens in the past. As you can see these ovens are very versatile. Many who have them find that they use them as their primary oven, despite them being smaller than a full sized oven. A common configuration is to stack one of them over a regular wall oven which can handle those few times like Thanksgiving when you actually need a big oven and/or multiple ovens. To make it less daunting, try eliminating options you know you won't want. For example, I generally consider 30" double oven ranges to make the most sense in retrofit situations, or if you want two ovens but are limited by space and budget. It certainly doesn't sound like you are limited by space, and since you're talking about 48" pro ranges and double wall ovens it doesn't sound like you would be forced into a 30" range by budget either. So if I were you I probably wouldn't bother considering one. One thing that would help is if you can figure out a budget for appliances and post it here. The products you have mentioned so far range from under $2000 to near $8000 - I don't really have a sense of how much you're actually planning on spending. Have you already decided on a dishwasher, fridge, etc?...See MoreBecca
