LG washer shrinking clothes on cold! Please help!
Comments (94)@HU-410414692 Thanks so much for explaining why clothing and household items I've washed for years in cold, now shrink in Samsung's version of "cold". I've ruined too many loved items, things I've ALWAYS machine-washed. So thinking it must have been my error, and I'd forgotten to change the temp setting, I'd try it again. After several such shrinkage mishaps, I knew for certain I was using the cold setting. So I no longer wash anything shrinkable in my machine, even on delicate. I live in Southern California on a raised foundation house. The water doesn't get that cold in the first place, so if this machine adds warm water, as you explained, then I'm screwed for washing wools. I suppose I could wash on delicate in cold on very cold days in winter only and keep my fingers crossed. But it's not worth the risk. And that doesn't happen that often anyway. This shrinkage was the first thing I called Samsung about when I first bought the set. Samsung sent out a repairman because it was under warranty and he couldn't find anything wrong. (roll eyes). The company line was deny, deny, deny. I was so concerned about the machine destroying my things that I forgot to ask about the front coming off every time I opened the detergent drawer. I solved that issue by never using liquids At this point, the set is barely functioning as a washer and dryer for me. I might as well beat my clothes on rocks and dry them on tree branches. If I had the money for a new set, I'd set these on fire, I hate them that much. And I couldn't in good faith sell them to anyone else. Anyone considering buying Samsung: Please reconsider. You'll regret it. Samsung doesn't deserve your business. In fact, there are many other reviews here like mine. Comments (21)My Whirlpool Duet will be 9 years old Next month (April).......... It has been *mostly* trouble free, there were a couple of issues the very first year......all remaining years have been trouble free pretty much. I do know my particular Duet was built in Germany........I hear some of the Duet's now are made in Mexico, some are made in the US too.......I don't think they are made in Germany anymore (could be wrong on that). But I would go with Whirlpool over LG any day too...... Even though something could go wrong with any washer, I think it's less likely with Whirlpool and even more LESS likely with Speed Queen. But Speed Queens are expensive.....and lack some features like a heater...... The thing I hate about extended warranties is the waiting..... If something goes wrong, even if you have the warranty, you may have to go to the laundromat for a few weeks........techs first visit to diagnose............then "order" the part because they never have it with them".........then schedule to come back to install the part...........then, perhaps that was a wrong diagnosis........the new part didn't help..........We will have to order another part and try that"...........This kind of things happens! I hate to be negative........But some of experiences of others I've read makes me so paranoid. I hope my duet keeps chugging along....See MoreMiele vs Samsung vs BlueStar vs Wolf Induction Cooktops + Service
Comments (44)So, time to chime in here. I went with the Blue Star 36" induction cook top 2 years ago. Looks great, LOVED the knobs, worked fantastic... for about 18 months. I'll note that unlike their other products it only has a 1 year warranty. First, the two rightmost burners started indicating they were overheating when the central burner was in use (and the rightmost were not). I reset the system at the breaker per the manual and it rand great for three weeks with a hitch, then the central and right top burner cut out entirely. Three days later they came back, but wouldn't heat above level 7 (out of 10). I had (or so I thought) the good sense to get an extended warranty, but after getting a service guy out here the warranty company informs me it will cost more to fix than I paid in the first place, so they're going to cash me out. Blue Star may be good in other areas (no experience here), but based on my experience with this one, I don't think they have enough time making this product to reach their usual degree of reliability. Addendum: looks like Blue Star (when I bought it) had a narrower cut out (18") than anything currently on the market, including their own product. At least it looks like they're learning from past mistakes......See MoreDont buy a Samsung ANYTHING
Comments (61)Samsung is a foreign company that will never stand behind their products. Dare you have a problem, if you do it is your fault no matter what you say. They pass the buck (the problem) onto companies they sell to, like Walmart, so Walmart or whomever takes the loss. I'm guessing that is the deal. 'You can sell Samsung, only if no strings are attached back to Samsung". And who gets the shaft, the customer. Because good luck dealing with Walmart either. All of these companies, but especially Samsung since it has never been American, make it impossible should anything go wrong. And considering the shipment trail, a lot can, and does go wrong. Samsung is a sleezy company selling cheap Asian products. I can't wait until tariffs go through the roof and they go under. DO NOT buy Samsung unless you are into gambling with your money, and you don't mind losing it. Any American working for or with this company should be ashamed at what they are doing to fellow Americans. Yep, I am stick with an expensive 70" tv that is cracked. It's my fault, of course since, according to Samsung, I handled it too rough. Like I would spend the money for such an item and be careless. I have several large TVs, so I know how to handle them. But it is my word against theirs. So, guess who eats the cost. So much for the holiday gift to my BF. Criminals like Samsung need another Class Action Lawsuit before they will pay a dime to the customers they screwed over. I was just a trash can for their damaged goods, and I am sure I was not the only one....See Morewildchild2x2
